Every single second of CM ranges from cringey to painful to watch. What in the frick were they thinking?

CM drags the movie way down. His character felt like it was ripped out of a script for a direct to streaming knock off of Smoking Aces w/a coked out Troy Duffy writing/directing. His acting is also brutally bad. I usually can overlook a wooden actor in this kind of flick but good lord he sounded like he was reading off of cue cards. After the first week of dailies they should have scrapped all his lines and created a lackey character who did all his talking b/c he is nowhere near ready to have that many lines. Also, having his character live and fight his way out of the hospital in the end credits scene? Really?

and i'm going to have to do major persuasion to get her on board for a round 2.

Just tell her you wanted to warm her up with the bad version so she wasn't too spoiled by the awesome version.

And seriously, it's a pretty awesome and fun-as-shite movie. If she's cool she'll love it. And if she's not, then at least you'll love it.

Really? I fastforwarded through the credits in case there was an in/after credits scene, and I didn't see one.

When you go back and see how well shot the old one was and how good the score was, it's just a gigantic indictment on today's industry.

The score on the new one was so bad

One of many head scratchers. Like at the beginning, with Dalton and the train. It wasn’t even clear if it was a death defying act or more an accident. Why? Whatever they were trying to say could have been done much clearer.

I took that as he was going to kill himself and then changed his mind at the last second, and it was almost too late.

I can’t tell if you’re serious or not. Not sure if you are serious here as opposed to your OT persona, or if you’re a full of shite troll on this board too.

The movie isn’t that bad but Conner McGregor is absolutely awful. It’s straight up cringe. It was like he was written for some totally different movie. Like someone else said, he takes the movie from a 6 down to almost unwatchable.

They had a decent remake in there but screwed it up with McGregor’s cartoonish acting and some awful screenwriting. Whoever casted the bands has literally never been in a bar and seen a bar band. That “Praise the Lord” song was ear cancer.

Its funny people are taking this joke movie seriously

The irony in your statement is that it should have been a joke movie, but they tried to make a real movie and it failed on every level

Why did CM walk out of the hospital like he was originally admitted for arse play gone wrong?

CM was a cartoon. From his lines to his “swagger.” The movie was a *somewhat* decent flick until his character was introduced. Totally seems like some corporate producer said “Make sure we get him to turn it up to an 11.”

Gyllenhaal wasn’t bad in my opinion but having Dalton be this shitty, version of Jack Reacher was the wrong approach. The great thing about Swayze’s character was that he was a bouncer/cooler and knew the bar business. He also had this mysterious, educated/cultured background that added to his story. They didn’t need to reinvent the wheel here.

I've gotten irrationally angry the last few days after thinking about this movie.

The one line they actually took from the original was in the ER with "Nobody ever wins a fight".

While this worked in the original with Swayze's character being a professional bouncer (and having a philosophy degree), it is 9 kinds of fricking spectacularly stupid coming from a former UFC fighter.

What the frick? His whole job used to be winning fights.

It's worse than the stupid arse shaving scene.

I really am surprised I liked this movie well enough and most people seem to absolutely hate it. I don't know if maybe my expectations were a lot lower than most in here or what, but I thought it was a relatively decent, mindless B type of movie. Just like the original (although nowhere near as entertaining or charming, which I wasn't expecting it to be anyway).

It's just funny to me that normally movies like this that are fairly universally hated are ones that I also don't like. But this one just wasn't some egregious horrible movie for me. I realize that "not egregiously horrible" is a pretty low bar, but still.

This was a terrible movie. But I enjoyed it. It was like watching a car crash, I couldn't look away.

It doesn't have any of the charm or heart of the original, but that is typical of 99% of remakes these days.

Movie was at least watchable until CM showed up. Could have been so many better choices and then from there each fight and such bordered on unbelievable. I watched the whole thing so they got me.

The original movie was good ridiculous.
This movie is ridiculous ridiculous.
I love how the Road House is an upscale Margaritaville where fights jump off during the day. The place in the original was a shithole.

It stayed enjoyable for me as long as CM was not on the screen.
