Why is everyone shocked about these shows being "fixed"?
They are scripted. There are writers. It's a total fraud.
People just figuring this out?
They are cheap as hell to produce and viewers will watch them. That's why they are all over the airwaves.

Not all of them are scripted ... Producers certainly manipulate situations to create drama.

Shows like The Real World are edited to show whatever story the producers want to show, but don't have a script. What you see is manipulated as hell.

they pretty much suck ... i agree.
But before i worked in film ... it was a great gig. I was paid good money to travel the country for two years for easy easy work, so cannot complain about that.

I hated this shite from the beginning.
The only one I used to like was Pawn Stars, just to see the stuff people bring in, and not the people themselves.

I don't mind if it's staged if it's good TV. Duck Dynasty has some obviously staged scenes, but it's hilarious and one of the few "reality" shows I watch. Everything on TruTV is staged to the point of being unwatchable. Those TruTV repo shows are terrible.

they don't even try to hide that they are scripted and edited anymore.

This. And they shoot a whole week to get 30 minutes. They can create whatever story they want.
