Hollywood was good, but they kicked off Greg and Joey went batshit and then the season was crap.

ETA: No chance I watch this...about the only thing I watch on MTV anymore is the Challenge.

lol they tried this the DC season (XXIII) and it was a train wreck. They had basically every type of person you could think of: tranny, homo, lesbian, frat guy, pretty chick, guido, racist black dude. Seriously it was painful to watch
I'm confused. DC didn't have a tranny, lesbian, frat guy, or a racist black dude. I guess Josh was half-Italian (though I'm not even sure), but he had as many guido traits as Jeff Foxworthy. He was just this extremely untalented singer who was able to con much more talented musicians into working with him because he kind of looked like Prince with muscles The only black cast member was a guy from a wealthy background who went to one of the country's preppiest colleges and let the weird guy in the Panda hat make hundreds of racist jokes (although they were generally pretty funny). He did have some wifebeater tendencies though.
Are you thinking of Brooklyn? No angry black guy or lesbian, but they did not have a gay Latino, a bodybuilder, and an Iraq vet. Other than the Iraq vet's storyline, it was damn boring. DC was a little better, but it wasn't good either

they're really reaching to make this show relevant again. Can't believe they haven't killed it yet. How do the ratings justify it at this point?
If I remember correctly, ratings were generally fine until the DC season. DC tanked. Then New Orleans II and Las Vegas II did well, then San Diego II drove everyone away in droves. Since then, they had a very bad season in St. Thomas and Portland did better, but Nia wasn't the superstar Bunim Murray expected. It was still worse than NOLA and Vegas II.
If anyone knows about ratings before 2009, please chime in because I don't know much about that, and the info isn't easily available. I vaguely remember the Chicago season being the highest rated though. Chicago wasn't great, but it came on the heels of two great seasons in New Orleans and Back to New York, and usually ratings seem to represent the popularity of the preceding show or two.
I really don't like the Exes idea. Sounds like a stupid gimmick and a sign of desperation to get ratings back to pre-San Diego II levels. Viewers' Revenge (and to a lesser extent the overhaul of the Road Rules formula 3 or 4 years earlier) certainly didn't help that franchise out all that much.

I think the first Vegas had the highest ratings. Paris came after, and I don't think it was too bad.

Seems like the dumbest idea yet by MTV. Likely the last nail in the coffin for a once great show.

This show has officially jumped the shark. What a stupid idea.

Oh, the other I was going to write is that while Real World has bad ratings, all of their new shows are doing much worse.
Teen Mom is doing well, I believe, but since then, Buckwild was their only other hit, but that is obviously over.

MTV has Teen Wolf and Awkward that do very well.

Sorry, I meant in reality programming,
Big Tips Texas started off poorly. Don't think the traveling nurses are doing much better, and the school newspaper show and the teenagers in Spanish Harlem were both cancelled.

I tried to watch Big Tips Texas, but the chicks were ugly as shite even with a pound of makeup on.
The only attractive one was the horse barrel riding chick, and she dipped, so that was over quick.
Haven't watched the nurse show, thought it looked okay if they focused more on the nurse aspect, which apparently they didn't.

MTV needs to bring back Road Rules

MTV SUCKS and has for 2 decades

I'll be watching. The preview looks like it could be a complete train wreck (possibly in a good way). Although honestly all the Real World is good for nowadays is finding new people for the Challenge.

I have it set to record the 10pm one, will watch it later and give it a shot.

Looks like the typical MTV douchebags and sluts.
