So... Did I just watch a Tron trailer? Premise seems very similar. Also it looked like I was watching a video game for 3/4 of that trailer.

I'm kinda looking forward to this.
Things they better have -- SPOILERS
There needs to be footage of Halliday interacting with 80s teen movies when he announces the quest.
The TARDIS should either be at Og's birthday party or at the big final battle (Spielberg is apparently an old school Doctor Who fan, so this should happen, barring weird licensing stuff)
Johnny 5 should set off the events that trigger the final battle.

I think there will be a lot of references that will be walking by or with music in the background. You will have to be paying attention to see them.
I don't mind if they swap out 80s references for other 80s references for licensing reasons.
I just want the grail quest, keys, and gates to be identical. No money should be spared buying the rights to those games/movies.

Unfortunately a lot of rumors indicate the death race thing has something to do with the bronze gate or key. That would be really dumb. The bronze key is one of the best parts of the books, the bronze gate reveal and idea is amazing too.

Bronze key? Which one is that? I remember copper, crystal and jade. Speilberg better not mess up the crystal key part.

Yeah Parzival couldn't have the Delorean before finding the Copper Key.
He didn't even have enough money or power to get off planet until he found the Key.
Not sure how they could add in a race like that especially one that seems so important based on the trailer.
Maybe they add in a race for bonus points or an extra clue or something at some point

I'm about 80% through the audio book now (first time "reading" the book), so I figured I'd bump this. I've seen the trailer several times during this read to see if I can pick up on anything that represents what is happening in the book.
This is a long-shot, but I'm hoping that what appears to be a race is just a quick thing in the movie showcasing the OASIS sixers and not an integral plot point. I'm at the point in the book where they go to Og's house before the battle, and I figured maybe there was a race after that, but it sounds like there isn't based on many of the posts in this thread. It could serve the purpose of showing all of the Sixers working in the same room while also demonstrating the power of the OASIS in an opening scene of the movie and serving as eye-candy for the trailer. I seriously doubt it, but that's my hope anyways.
Someone mentioned that it didn't look like the Asian brothers were going to be featured, but I looked at the IMDB cast list a while back and it definitely showed either one or both of them in the cast. I can't remember.

It’s 2017. That’s what most people say now if they like a show. Sounds like it’s your fault for not taking it with a grain of salt
