Because the movie portrays her as attractive, but she isn't. The juxtaposition of the movie saying something that's so obviously not true takes the viewer out of the film because the un-truth just "clangs" in your mind. It's distracting. My interest isn't mastabatory, it's in not being told "up is down, black is white".

If the attractiveness or unattractiveness of a person takes you out of a story then you lack the intelligence to debate this topic in a serious manner. They could have had Tori Spelling or Rumer Willis in the lead female role and I wouldn't have been taken out of the narrative. Why? Because the story was very compelling.

The only negative that I can even find with the Rachel Dawes character in The Dark Knight is the fact that she was portrayed by someone other than Katie Holmes. It hurt continuity more than anything.

The final third of TDK just becomes totally unfollowable without some sort of separate printed guide to what's going on and why, and even then it doesn't make logical sense.

Well all of us sitting in the theater seemed to understand just fine. Not sure what your issue was.

Memento is far and away the best picture he's made. Nothing comes remotely close.
