The one Rey used to beat Kylo Ren is the one that killed the kids. He killed the kids in episode 3, after he made the new saber. It was then used to behead Dooku, then used to murder kids, then taken by Obi Wan after he defeats Anakin, then given to Luke by Obi Wan, then lost with Luke's hand on Bespin, then somehow placed into the possession of Maz Kanata, then given to Finn, then dropped by Finn, then picked up by Rey and is now carried by Rey.

That's the timeline for this lightsaber.

Does anybody else think Rey needs a saber of her own? It looked too big for her to me.

It's a bummer too, because his green saber was so freaking badass.

Supposedly part of the Jedi training is making your own.

Think your biggest point of confusion is that you thought that the change from blue to green was a random choice by the director and not implemented into the plot

I think all three light sabers from the OT will play a part, green blue and red

Makes me think Finn or Poe might end up being a Jedi after all or there will be another we don't know about yet

color does matter in the old republic but obviously Luke wasn't a part of that.

I thought it was about finding your own personal crystal from the caves on the crystal planet. The Jedi (or Sith) would be guided by the force to find the right crystal for them.

Red for Sith. Blue or green (or purple for Mace Windu) for Jedi. I also read somewhere that blue was for "guardian class" Jedi (e.g. Anakin, OB1) and green was for living force Jedi (e.g. Yoda, QGJ, Luke).

That would mean Luke switched from blue (Anakin's old one) to green when he found his crystal and built a green lightsaber. It may also mean he's more like Yoda now than Obi Wan, and we may see some badass force shite from him in VIII

Blue, Green, White, Yellow, Purple, Orange. Tons of jedi Colors.

Sith are red mostly due to the fact that they have Synthetic Crystals. Their sabers tend to be less stable.

Wasn't sure what was "canon" and what was not. How many colors were used in the 7 movies? I only remember red, blue, green, and purple (for Mace Windu). I think I saw yellow or white on the Clone Wars cartoon?

The blue light saber Finn and Rey yield is the light saber used to kill the Younglings and the one Obi picked up after he sliced/diced Anakin and gave to Luke which was in his hand when Vader beat him in Cloud City.

That was the Jedi training back during the Jedi Council days, but it didn't seem like Obi-Wan or Yoda cared too much about Luke having Anakin's lightsaber. I wonder if Luke would've even built his own if he hadn't lost his father's.

I bet her experience with a bo staff is foreshadowing a double sided saber.
