Question about the lightsaber **TFA SPOILERS**

Per discussions I've had personally and stuff I've seen online. My BIL made a crack about if someone found Luke's lightsaber, they must have found his hand as well. But Luke never got that one back, and Vader, when Luke turned himself in on Endor (moon planet), makes a comment about him constructing a new one, so I shot that down. Now I'm watching this video on IGN and they are talking about all of the young Jedi that that saber killed, and that might be (jokingly) why Luke looks hesitant to take it back at the end.
So that's two different "sources" saying that it's still the original saber that Obi Wan gave to Luke in ep. 4. Granted, I only watched the movie once so maybe I missed some key info on that, but I want to say that it's the saber that he had from Jedi.
I just googled it, and the lightsaber from Jedi was originally blue, matching the original one and the one that shows up in TFA, but they changed it to green to make it more visible in the Tatooine scenes in Jedi.
So now I don't know what to think.

It's Anakins second lightsaber, Lukes first.
(could actually be Anakins third or fourth as I'm sure he was pretty careless about them)

It's the saber Kenobi took from anakin (Vader then) and the one that fell to the bottom of the floating city above bespin.
It has quite a bit of history.
Also I'm pretty positive there were two Sabers in Reys bay one being Lukes first and the other Likes second.

No, I get that you meant Luke. But how is it Anakin's second? Because I want to say that when Luke cuts off his hand, it falls down a pit as well.
Plus Vader's is red in that movie.

Luke presumably still has the green lightsaber he constructed between episodes 5 and 6. The lightsaber Rey had us the original blue one Luke inherited from his dad via Obi-Wan and lost on Bespin in episode 5. I'm guessing whoever found the lightsaber discarded the hand grasping it.

Anakin's first was destroyed in episode 2. Cut in half by that machine.

So I guess color doesn't REALLY matter since they changed Luke's from blue to green in Jedi, BUT again, Vader's is red in Jedi (and assumedly lost in the destroyed Death Star), so I guess that's where I'm confused.

No. That's this one.

Sigh have Red and Jedi have every other color. Other than that, the color is not significant at all in the movies or books. Star Wars Battlefront assigns some significance to the color for the sake of the game, but that's about it.

Correct. The owner of that bar said, "That's a story for another time" or something along those lines. We don't know yet how the lightsaber was found.

So if Anakin's was destroyed in ep. 2, that isn't the one that killed the young Jedi. So THAT part is incorrect.

The new lightsaber he had for episode 3, which is the one passed onto Luke and then Rey, is the one used to kill younglings. He then fought Obi-Wan and lost. Obi-Wan took Anakin's lightsaber after defeating Anakin and kept it for the next 18 years before giving it to Luke.

The one Rey used to beat Kylo Ren is the one that killed the kids. He killed the kids in episode 3, after he made the new saber. It was then used to behead Dooku, then used to murder kids, then taken by Obi Wan after he defeats Anakin, then given to Luke by Obi Wan, then lost with Luke's hand on Bespin, then somehow placed into the possession of Maz Kanata, then given to Finn, then dropped by Finn, then picked up by Rey and is now carried by Rey.
