Portlandia is the new SNL

...and has been for awhile.
Produced by Lorne Michaels, the skits and social commentary are heads and shoulders above SNL.
At first I thought it was NW specific for Portland but the social commentary is global and spot-on about today's society and so much funnier than SNL.
Just finished binge watching on Netflix...and the satire about today's world is so far above anything SNL does.
1. Social Bankruptcy
2. Buying a cell phone
3. The Man Issue
4. Battlestar Galactica - binge watch
5. Rent it out, the Airbnb and Uber craze

I watched the first 2 links.
They were . . .skits and stuff.
Is it supposed to be a comedy or drama.
Either way it is really fricking boring.

Any skit with Kumail Nanjiani is freaking hilarious.
I always love their Women and women bookstore skits.
Portlandia skits are hit or miss, and they have some misses. Great show but I don't like some of the regular characters they have, like the couple where Fred and Carrie play opposite genders.
One skit that I remember off the top of my head that I couldn't stop laughing was the "did you read" where the whole conversation was trying to one up the other on how many articles they each read.

Yeah I don't find the opposite genders skits funny...but the social commentary on what is happening now is spot on. The man issue is golden along with getting off social media.

I appreciate the show for poking the ridiculous progressive mindset in the eye with a very sharp stick.
The funniest skit I've seen was the Portland Disease Pride Parade. They were applauding the bravery of people with chickenpox.
The two overbearing feminist who create causes out of thin air are also hysterical.

It's good, but to be fair, everything is better than SNL these days

I love Portlandia. Even the music is great.

Portlandia is the funniest show on TV. It completely makes fun of hipster culture & the ridiculousness of it & throws it in their face & yet hipsters are some of the biggest fans of the show. It is very similar to how Talledega Nights was a complete hit job on all redneck nascar culture yet it is pretty much every redneck's favorite movie. Armisen & Brownstein are absolute comic geniuses.

I want to like it and I appreciate the hipster-mocking
I just don't think it's funny
