Hate this, but expected it. Same thing happened when Moffat replaced Davis as showrunner - they kind of forced Tennant out so Moffat could have a fresh start with his own doctor.

Capaldi absolutely killed it this past season. One of the best Doctors I've ever seen. He was amazing. I will truly hate to see him go, but this is the nature of the show we love so much.

Excited to see where Chibnal takes the show. Broadchurch was a very solid show. He has the chops, I think.

I won't hate a female Doctor so long as the choice in actress is a good one and not forced.

I wouldn't be surprised to see female or a minority Doctor this time around.

No, Clara was done last season.

New companion is a female named Bill. Not comepmetely androgynous, but seems a bit butch. She'll probably be gay.

A lot of snowflakes who can't stand diversity for the sake of itself will be triggered.

I've been meaning to catch this.

Jenna Coleman did so well as Clara. Great actress.

I've also been really happy to see how well Karen Gillan has done since leaving the show. First GotG and now the Jumanji remake - she's killing it!

Had to look him up but I recognize him. He would be great, I think. And apparently is already in rumors for the role.

Felt too all over the place even when laying out his plan.

How about Suranne Jones, the actress who played Idris, the physical embodiment of the Tardis opposite Matt Smith? I see she is currently the lead in another BBC show, Doctor Foster. She's been on the show, her character was quirky just like the Doctor and there's a weird relationship to explore.

I LOVED her. Easily one of my favorite episodes of the show - and penned by Neil Gaiman to boot.

I'm pulling for Andrew Scott (Moriarty from Sherlock). I would also like to see the next Doctor be either a reluctant hero, like Peter Davison, or a bit devious with a hidden agenda, like Sylvester McCoy.

I would stop watching. I can only take his schtick in very small doses.

Nah, Tennant just didn't want to come back for a fourth year. He considered it, matter of fact, Moffat said he wrote the beginning of The Eleventh Hour for Tennant...the whole bit with the TARDIS crashing by Amy Pond's house, then the Doctor coming in and meeting with her, finding the crack in the universe, taking off and leaving her alone to wait for him. The plan was for that to foreshadow Tennant's regeneration. It would turn out that when he left her, he went off to regenerate, and when he met the grown up Amy, it would have been before he met the young Amy.

I would like to think the same thing happened with Capaldi, they wanted him to do a season with the new show runner, but he decided to split. I'm a bit afraid that he may have been pushed out in the interest of getting a younger Doctor. (I always thought they should have cast a male companion who was a Han Solo/Captain Jack Harkness/Mal Reynolds type - a likable rogue.)

I'm so pissed about this.

I want James D'Arcy or Andrew Scott for the next Doctor.

Victoria > The Crown

DWI (I've seen season one fully for both)

My goal is to avoid spoilers so I'm actually surprised by whomever The Doctor regenerates into this time.

I want Eddie Redmayne for the next Doctor. He played the main character on Fantastic Beasts and where to find them.

He was awesome in that and would make a great doctor

He's also an Oscar winner who is probably going to star in a bunch of those Fantastic Beasts movies. No way is he going to be the Doctor. He's got way too many big things going on.
Here are names of other actors who are not going to be the next Doctor for the same reasons: Hugh Laurie, Benedict Cumberbatch and Damien Lewis.

I couldn't see him as the doctor. However, he would be one kick arse Bond Villain.

Yes, the star of a multi-million (billion?) dollar film franchise (along with a bunch of other major film roles) is going to give that up to take one of the most demanding roles in tv. FFS.

I kind of hope that if I move (which is probable over the next seven months or so), it's before the new Doctor's announced and it's to somewhere back in the States for that exact reason. It would be impossible to avoid the reveal over here.
