So who's the next doctor? Also it's confirmed that the Christmas episode will be that regeneration episode

Already the final series for longtime lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat,

This is the bigger news, imo.

This is going to be an odd season. Capaldi's last, Moffett's last, and a new completely unknown companion.

That's not news.

Sad about capaldi leaving, he's a great Doctor.

OK, substitute "bigger significance" for "bigger news."

I have zero attachment to Capaldi as the doctor.

They made The Master female. Probably triple down on diversity with the doctor. Transgendered black person in a sonic wheelchair.

Funny because there's truth to it. I'd be shocked if the diversity card were not played at this point.

I'm rooting for the ginger card.

Rupert Grint, step on up!

Ha, I guess you're remembering Matt Smith saying something about that when he became the doctor.

Good. I've never liked him as the Doctor.

I'm not surprised he's leaving. Three seasons has been the norm lately. He's been great, but let down by awful scripts.

I've been a huge fan for 35+ years. A female Doctor would be too much, worse than an American. (although I did see Tilda Swinton's name mentioned. She might not be THAT awful)

Based on how the ratings have dropped in the U.K., I'm pretty certain the next Doctor will be in the David Tennant/Matt Smith mold. He won't be over 40 and he'll be a quirky boyfriend, not a grouchy middle aged man.

Can they just get Matt Smith to come back? Aside from his stint on the Crown, I have not seen him in anything whatsoever since leaving Dr. Who.

I'm a big Capaldi fan (In the Loop especially) and watched his first season for that reason. And Clara was fantastic. But most of the scripts were pretty bad and by the time it was over I had no desire to watch his second season.

Interesting about Tilda Swinton - I could see that. But mostly I think a female Dr. is a bad idea.

Matt Smith was in that mediocre Terminator movie. Matter of fact, it was set up for him to be the big bad guy in future movies. And he was in Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. He's got a couple things coming out this year: a zombie movie with a decent cast and he's playing Robert Mapplethorpe in a Sundance type movie.

Is Clara still the companion? I quit watching last season.

Obligatory Eldris Iba as the new Doctor.

Who's the guy that now plays Q in the James Bond movies? Get him to be the Doctor.
