Oh, I hope this is true.

I bought the originals years ago on eBay, from a guy who'd transferred his laserdisc copies to DVD. The quality is decent, but, the edges of the screen are cut off a little and it's annoying.

Blu Ray originals would be so cool...

I prefer the originals, but will admit to liking some of the changes.

There are some great fan edits that are basically the original version with the new updated effects.

I still have my original Empire Strikes Back VHS.

We got it in 1981 as a present for us kids. Cost $89.00 through the video rental store.

That would be $225 today.

So, then we wised, bought another VCR to copy.

The main change I thought was okay was adding Christensen as a force ghost in RotJ

BTW, the changes go back to the 1981 VHS releases. Even back then, Lucas was editing in alternate takes, replacing voices, and changing sound effects.

Like it or not the prequels happened.


So minor changes to fit that continuity is okay for me.
