First off he was attracted to her and didn't know a damn thing about her aside from probably the reason she was incarcerated in the first place.
Secondly he's a prison guard, which means he'd go to prison for quite a few years if caught. He certainly wouldn't have risked it for that fat ugly broad.

Just finished the first season and lookin forward to season 2. The season finale was a strong episode with a great final scene.

Guys have done far more stupid things when thinking with their dicks. Plus, maybe he has a thing for ugly latino women.

As I've said, this series is a continuity of continuous stupid decisions by our characters. I can't name an intelligent action done on the show yet.

And I like the show because I realize this. It's nitpicking what I'm doing, but they should have definitely done a recast of the fat latino chick. Honestly I was thinking she was older than her mother.

There are two hookups that don't really jive on the physical attractiveness scale. The guard with the ugly, fat mexican and the main chick with Jason Biggs, who is pretty fricking ugly himself. And his character in the show is a poor, 30 year old failure who lives with his parents.

This is based on Piper Kerman who really did 15 months for the reasons in the show. So maybe this crap with a PR chick and a couple of guards really happened
It's not like the guards are some great catch. But I agree there is some dumb shite going on. And that's why these chicks are in prison and these dudes are prison guards.
