well since they typically do a midseason break, it seems likely that the first 1/2 will be war with negan, ending in the midseason finale, and the 2nd half will start a new story arc and show the "new world" post saviors

Not if they drag it out like they did with this season.

Yep. Zero chance that next season doesn't end with the end of the war.

Yea, I'm good w/Eugene, but if the moment Eugene said "I'm Negan" Rick woulda just not hesitated and shot him, that woulda been badass.

The NewEugene is so much better. He's more than just a simpering coward now.

In fact, Negan is just straight up better than rick.

He has more charisma and his plan is better too.
He's a fair leader. Cruel but fair, that's what people need in dark times.

I don't think they are even trying to hide it at this point. They've went out of their way to make Rick Negan's bitch. Rick will have his shining moment though. Similar as the Rick and Shane deal.

We said that if they keep dragging this shite out and don't begin to change direction along with giving the viewers a sense of an end, they will lose viewers. This season was one of the worse in terms of excitement and viewing pleasure. Just my opinion as many will disagree.

How does a season of no war that is not exciting make an entire season of war also not exciting?

You said it yourself. This season wasn't exciting. An entire season of them battling in theory should be filled with excitement. It's frickin' war.

You people want to have your cake and eat it too.

If they'd killed Negan this episode, and introduced a new group, people would complain about that too.

I want a season of Rick/Ezekiel vs Saviors/Trash People. Negan > The Governor. War > boring dialogue and love stories.

Negan and Rick are not that different, it's just that their stories are told from two different prospectives. Sure, Negan is certainly cruel with his punishments, but he is a man of rules. He makes it very clear at the outset the "rules of the game" and, thus far, has followed them. The punishment for breaking those rules is severe, but you know what you are getting into when you choose to break the rules.

How is Negan telling the three communities to give up your shite or I will kill your people any different than what Rick and Co. just did to Seaside with the guns? What about the demands Rick and Co. made when they first got to Alexandria?

If this story had started following the saviors, we would likely be viewing Rick and Co. much differently.

Which group would you rather be a part of?

Rick has flaws like everyone else but cares about people and tries to make the best decisions for the group. Negan is a straight up psychopath and makes the best decision for Negan.

If there is no Negan, Rick doesn't do this. Negan does what he does because he's a sick frick.

Well, Negan's group seems to be doing pretty well. Let's not forget that Rick sent Carol packing for making a decision that was in the groups best interest.

I want Negan dead, but as possibly the best character and actor on the show I want him to stay. Rick's statement about killing him even with Coral dead and him with no hands goes back to the talk he and Michonne had about carrying on and that this would not end if either of them died. I like that he unpussied himself some. I hope the battle against the saviors is awesome hunting and strategy that elevates the show some. I also hope it ends just after the mid season break so they can move on to a new arc that is more interesting. I do secretly hope Negan has a Governor like comeback later, as he would do a much better job.

I gave up on reasonable expectations long ago and have to keep myself in check when it comes to reality on the show. They have not jumped the shark, but they can see it sometimes.

I have to say that the series as a whole will need to move along a different path towards rebuilding to keep my interest for more than a couple more seasons. There could still be plenty of action along with some sciencey shite.

Sure, for now. You still didn't answer my question though. Which group would you rather be part of?

I've seen others make that comparison too, but it really isn't close. Negan is a pure psychopath. He feels nothing for others. His relationships are manipulative and serve only to protect him and his personal interests. His group appears to be doing well so long as they agree to be his slaves.

Rick is just a dude trying to do the best for his group. Like most good leaders, situations rise where you have to make tough decisions for the group. making mistakes is inevitable, but your actions are in the interest of others. Rick felt like banishing Carol despite caring for her as a person was the right decision for the group at the time because it would have led to civil war. It didn't benefit him personally one way or another.

I suppose you think Kim Jong-un and Trump aren't all that different either.

It depends on what you consider "part of the group." If you mean Rick's inner circle, then sure. But, if you mean one of the random Alexandrians, I think Rick would sacrifice one of them at the drop of a hat if it meant saving one of his own, just as Negan would.

The only difference seems to be that Negan doesn't have anyone close to him. It would be interesting to see how Negan got to this point/how he lost his family. I think if Negan had a family or core group, he would be very similar to Rick in that they would both do whatever it took to protect those closest to them. It just appears that Negan acts for himself because he doesn't have anyone close to him. Maybe you're right and he doesn't have anyone close to him because he doesn't care about anyone but himself and hasn't allowed anyone to get close to him. Maybe he did at one point and lost those closest to him. That's why I think it would be interesting to see his backstory.

We have to remember we are in a zombie apocalypse. Dictatorships are naturally going to happen and Rick has not exactly been the beacon of democracy at times.

all of the shooting scenes are terrible. Rick just points and shoots in random directions with a serious look on his face. And of course, as you mentioned, no one can apparently aim worth a frick. They could do a much better job with the fight scenes.

Unless they are shooting at walkers. Then they make headshots with pistols at 30 yards on the move.
