I also don't see why they can't just pack up their cars and head out West, but I understand that we're trying to have a show here.

I am impressed at Andrew Lincoln's ability to draw a hefty paycheck while hardly appearing in the show this season.

I've binge watched the second half of the season the last few days. I don't know how anyone still watches this week to week. There are still good moments and good episodes but it is starting to remind me of the middle seasons of Lost when there wasn't an endgame in sight and lots of filler. Random characters get most of an episode devoted to them. The main crew is background fluff and just enough to keep it moving.

True, but they seem to have all the fuel they need to get around as much as they need to.

As for food, if they were serious about the move, I'm sure they could make arrangements for a week or so worth of food to head out of town. It's not like they have to go to the West coast, just west.

Comfort
Sure there's the unknown and no nice town setting like Alexandria associated with being on the road but...There's not exactly much comfort being under Negan's control.

I wish they would tell us where they are supposed to be. They came from Virginia, past by DC and they are near the ocean or some other body of water (Chesapeake Bay?). Gregory pulled out a map of Virginia. So maybe they button hooked back and are still in northern Virginia near the Potomac. But the topography doesn't really match up and there would be 2 huge cities about 50 or so miles away (Richmomd and DC). Maybe the area isn't that large, since everything seems to be about a days walk. So we are looking at a 25-30 miles radius? That isn't a big area..

Aren't they still filming it all in Georgia? I think the location just has to be one of those things we don't really know unless it is a major city.

Richmond is 100 miles from D.C.
Alexandria is just outside of D.C. And part of a huge metropolis. I figure the AFZ was a planned community in the coastal plains of Virginia and that's all tidewater area not all that much different than coastal Ga., South and Norh Carolina.
But like others have said there are more glaring inconsistencies like why they seem to drive 30 year old gas guzzlers, who cuts all the grass and all the guns are like new.

they film in georgia
the ASZ is an actual planned eco-community that people live in...they built the wall around it for the show

here is the property

LINK

all other locations are nearby

in the show universe, they are in the DC suburbs (ie: alexandria & environs). and yes, it is a problem of optics because the place they film is rural and heavily wooded, while the actual DC suburbs are anything but
