A movie shouldn't push an agenda. Period.

so you're saying filmmakers shouldn't be allowed to make the kind of movie they think is best for a particular story?

who would you have enforce such a rule? the government?

I mean...I'm pretty positive this movie is going to be awful, but am I supposed to be angry or something that it has some "girl power" message behind it?

do you hate Power Puff Girls as well?

The theaters should release the original Ghostbusters, and this horrible remake at the same time, and see which makes the most $.

I had started to type out a rebuttal to the stats in your link, but then I decided that I don't care what people think of the liberals in Hollywood. Keep fighting the good fight sir.

ETA: No chance I watch this Ghostbusters film before it hits Redbox. I might not even watch it when that happens.

That pic shows me just how fricking big Leslie jones is. Good Lord, she's huge. She's like a legit foot taller than the other three girls.

It could be good. I like the SNL actresses and McCarthy has made me laugh a couple of times. I'm not excited about it, but it could be a decent date night movie./

I'm going to laugh when this movie flops and gets shite on by every reviewer out there.
Critics are too busy circle jerking over Paul Fieg. The reviews will be in the 90% range.

As far as the political stuff, who really gives a shite. Let them do what they want, I say. That's their business.

Not at all. This was my first impression when they had the all female cast (or at least what I thought their thought process was)

Initially: "Oh, this would be different to do an all female cast, and putting some funny characters together might make it uniquely fun" (Okay, I get wanting to change it up, get a new look, I still wouldn't see it because I adored the originals, but I can see why it might be entertaining)

Now (from different sources): " This about women, and women's equality in Hollywood, and blah blah blah blah"

Basically, the conversation has shifted from whats going to go into the actual movie/story line to make it a uniquely made Ghostbusters film, and now this movie is not about Ghostbusters at all, but women's equality?

I go to movies to be ENTERTAINED. I dont need to be entertained into political schools of thought. We have politicians and books, and people who study politics and government. Maybe they should start a voting campaign or run for office themselves if they want to change things. Maybe they're in the wrong industry if all they want is to make a political statement.

Of course they can, if its a story for the purpose of entertainment. It seems as though we know more about the political stance of this movie than we do about the movie itself. I dont agree with making a movie to convey a political agenda. If a movie happens to convey a political message as a result, so be it. I have never gone into a movie looking to be told what I should believe about government. We have lots of other places to find out for ourselves. I haven't found any media promoting political propaganda to be very positive in any historical circumstance FWIW.

ehh his last 3 movies have done well w/reviews and the box office

Bridesmaids - 90% RT w/84% audience score, $169m domestic w/a ww total of $288m on a $32.5m budget

The Heat - 65% RT w/71% audience score, $159m domestic w/a ww total of $229m on a $43m budget

Spy - 94% RT w/84% audience score, $110m domestic w/a ww total of $234m (and counting) on a $65m budget

Seems like the combo of MM and Feig alone should be able to pull $230m in. Add the Ghostbusters franchise name and unless the reviews are horrid w/terrible previews this film is probably a lock to make $350m plus.

Why does Hollywood need to recreate so many movies?

I would appreciate it more if this was more original

Mine won't. She's a liberal and is more against this piece of shite than I am. She loves the original.
