Ditto. How could anybody stand to work with her? And how rich was it when he made a fuss about the importance of hiring a "diverse" crew, and the 4 of the 5 people she hired were black? She's like a living, breathing caricature.

watched through ep 8 last night on HBOGo

Effie still continues to impress. that reinforcement is going to fuel her for years and years

Jason is going to lose somebody a lot of money one day because he's going to make a Medallin . his obsession with trying to get the exposure right in 1-2 scenes at the expense of fixing the story shows his true focus. he's probably only worried about that b/c he had some film school buddies/competitors in the back of his mind that he knew would rip him apart for that small issue. classic east coast film school auteur-type

also just add in his constant frustration with having to work within a budget (which was fricking $3M) and his own stupid choices leading to the issues he bitched about (giving up 2 days of shooting for film and wasting weeks on choosing a location mainly) and i can see him bankrupting a medium-small stuido on like a $15M budgeted movie that ends up costing $30M and makes $1M (but he gets affirmation from the aforementioned film school buddy/competitor and he feels like he did his job)

I have really enjoyed the season. Effie is the least favorite person I have ever watched on TV. Jason is technically brilliant but seems caught in the finite details too much. I have the movie set to record.

HBO manufactured a lot of drama. Even Effie said as much. They've interviewed multiple people that worked on PG and other films and said the time constraints the weird budget and how things were handled were just arse backwards.

That sucks that they wouldn't just let things go on as they would, but there's a long history of documentaries that do that for the sake of the overall story.

I thought Jason came off as a prick a lot, but for the most part at least had a reason for most of what he wanted. I thought the film vs digital was a bit stupid, but everybody has their own preferences.

Anyways, I'm excited to see what they came up with tonight.

By the end of last night's episode, I hate Jason just as much as effie.

Wow....The Leisure Class was just awful. All of that fuss over one of the worst movies I've ever seen. He'll never get a chance to bankrupt another movie at least.

Yeah the movie was complete shite. Actually I take that back, it was well lit and there was some alright cinematography.

script? shite
dialogue? shite
acting? shite
comedic relief? shite
nudity from youngest sister? shite

It really was garbage. I think I laughed once when the dicks on the face and when the hooker interrupted. It looked EXACTLY like a complete amateur was given some money to make a movie. Nothing about it felt like a realistic movie.

i really have no interest in watching the movie, but i may have to after this thread's commentary

for acting like he had such an original idea, i felt it was derivative and i bet it's cliche. this story has been told before

It was painfully bad. I was fooled by all the folks hyping it up that it really could be something good, then it turned in to a bland two hours where nothing seemed to land.

Swing and miss.

cringe worthy in moments.

The moments where the dark humor was hitting it was pretty funny but it just didnt' seem to mesh with the rest of the movie's tone. It was in-and-out. The scenes with the dad in the basement, you can tell it was suppose to be delivered as funny the way he was rambling, drunk, chastising his daughters/wife, but it didn't quiet get there.

Tom Bell was the only redeeming quality in that movie. I don't even know where to begin with Jason Mann's pretentiousness and where the film landed. He should have been more open to outside opinions. They were obviously trying to save him.
