Randy Quaid is the huge fail .... He's in exile in Canada and not allowed back in the states, so obviously the guys were not going to include him in the script

Chevy was fricking terrible in Community.
Not his fault. They did a horrible job with his character.

If someone wanted to be creative, he could be included - like a single scene where they're talking to Eddie on the telephone(or Facetime, Skype, whatever) or a single inside shot on a remote shoot up there.
It would certainly be better than nothing. Not sure how the legality of it would work, but something could be done if people were properly motivated.

maybe .... but for one Warner Bros is not sending a crew to Canada for Uncle Eddie. They chose to not force an appearance especially under the circumstances and focus on the cameos by Charlie Day, Freaks and geeks guys, Thor, Tim Heidecker, Nick Kroll, Keegan M Key etc. But i will ask the directors if they thought about including him because I am curious myself.

I understand the business decision, but this is one that I can't accept the convenient excuse, "It can't be done."
There are things that "can't be done" - this ISN'T one of them.

Tell Daley that Ace Midnight was, more or less, Sam Weir in high school, about 1 year younger than Sam Weir and that as an actor, he nailed that situation and time, perfectly.
I'm sure that's not the first time he's heard that. That show (along with Firefly) was a classic example of being "too good" for television.

i hear ya ... I think they were confident enough in the script and didn't want the hassle/complications from hiring an actor in exile.
John is great guy and has had a ton of success before 30. He and his writing partner did a great job on the directorial debut (from a production standpoint)

And not to focus on Freaks and Geeks to the exclusion of everything else, but that cast was stupid talented - everyone was good - Daley was impressive then and he was barely a teenager.

it's weird when i first met him i didn't realize he was on Bones and had knowledge of his Freaks involvement. I really need to watch the series and am a bit embarrassed I haven't. He reunites half of the Freaks gang for the film and it's pretty good.

Some of it may have been his fault, there were times where he just refused to do what was in the script.

Looks terrible ? Based on a still photo from set ? That makes sense ..... Warner bros must think its okay since they are moving the release date up 2 months and aren't afraid of h2h vs MI5

I think it would have been awesome to get Johnny Galecki or AMH as Rusty
Posted on 4/11/15 at 1:12 pm to Byron Bojangles III
Ed helms is perfectly cast as Rusty Griswold and Leslie Mann makes for a nice Audrey

Rusty was more sarcastic than funny though.

He's fricking terrible though. That's why he has been a shitty sitcom actor his whole life.
