yeah I didn't see anything in the trailer that indicated that. What did I miss?

I must have missed it. What part of the trailer confirms this?

Looks pretty stupid. I will go see it, but I just can't wrap my head around it.

You've got a guy who, by comparison to the human race, is a god by almost every metric. Then, in the blue corner, you have a ninja with cool toys and 20,000 thread count bedsheets.

I just don't understand how Batman could ever beat Superman. Wouldn't you have to completely block out the Sun?

Unless I missed something, I saw exactly nothing that indicated Bizzaro Superman to be in the movie.

I guess he assumes because otherwise Batman wouldn't be at war with him?

having never read the comics or know the history of this, I'm going to assume Batman's suit at the end had kryponite in it

Here's something I posted earlier. I think this is the reason why some people are still having a hard time with the concept:
quote:

This is an interesting point. I was talking to my father in law a couple of days ago and I asked him if he was going to see the Batman Superman movie. He said "I don't know man. The idea of Batman fighting Superman is stupid." Now, this is a guy who cares nothing for comics. He loves the Marvel and X-Men movies, though.

It got me thinking about why he and so many others are still not grasping the concept that ALL superhero movies have heroes fighting each other. It didn't matter what I tried to explain to him about how it's the same thing as what happened in The Avengers movies. Maybe it's because the concept of Batman creating something that can compete with Superman is lost to him. His thinking is Superman would crush Batman. With Iron Man we know by his past movies that he has many powerful suits. It's not much of a stretch to conceive that he could build a suit that can compete with the Hulk. In all of the Batman movies, Batman has never had a reason to create anything that powerful. To someone who knows nothing about The Dark Knight Returns or any comics for that matter, this entire concept of them fighting is lost to them.

Also, he didn't know why Batman and Superman would fight in the first place. I think the past movies with Superman and Batman are still fresh. Maybe he's old fashioned and likes the old all American boy scout Superman movies and thinks there's no way Superman would attack Batman. I tried to explain to him that they don't trust each other yet and so on; all to no avail. My mother in law even said "Batman and Superman should not be fighting. They should be on the same team." I then tried to explain to her that they team up later in the movie. Her response was "then why are they calling it Batman vs Superman?"

Maybe it would have been a better idea to call this movie Batman and Superman: Dawn of Justice. I think the Batman vs Superman is turning some average movie goers off to the movie. I'm starting to think that's why they showed Doomsday in the trailer. To show that they team up.

Anyway, just some thoughts I've been having about the movie and the marketing. If the movie is good, it won't really matter much, IMO.
Interestingly enough, I heard the same thing on the radio the other day. The average movie goer is so interwoven with the previous incarnations of the characters, it's hard for them to grasp. I hope it doesn't hurt the film in the long run.

First bit of marketing that's gotten me excited.

I will say again, the idea thatBatman doesn't kill people is absurd. He definitely killed people in that trailer.

Thank you for that, because it hits my sentiments precisely. I AM an average movie goer and I haven't read comics since I was a child. It has turned me off a bit, but I will still watch it.

I'm also not crazy about Ben Affleck as Batman, but it's not a dealbreaker.

I'm not a comics guy either, but I don't have much a problem with this concept

The first half of the trailer is really good. That's some serious Batman arse-kicking going on, and come on... Jeremy Irons!

And, then... there's the rest of the trailer, which is still completely unappealing to me. Batman's rant about Superman essentially is a villain's soliloquy, and then there's Lex Luther literally explaining the theme of the movie. I mean, Jesus. Have an ounce of restraint. It's way too on the nose.

Snyder can still film an action sequence, so that's good to know, but he still can't write character to save his life, so that's a pretty bad sign. I think this will be a staggeringly dumb movie with terrific action set pieces. Which actually is an improvement from the first trailers, which looked all bad.

It's a fair concern. But keep in mind that Superman does have a weakness - Kryptonite. I'm fairly certain Batmans suit will have Kryptonite in it, courtesy of Lex Luthor.

NM, I has read an article speculating that it could be an angle in the film, but I think it's just heat vision.

That makes it more interesting and much more palatable. Thank you.
