it seems trailers do a much better job of not giving away too much.
when I was a kid it seemed like they'd give you the entire fricking plot of the movie condensed into 3 minutes.

comedies are kind of put in a bad position trailer wise, you have to convince people the movie is funny so naturally you need to have some of your best jokes in the trailer.
I do love that they don't dole out all of the info in the trailer...I swear they used to even include the plot twists in the trailer.

an awesome super hero movie more than anything needs a really good villain
and loki was already the bad guy in one of the set up movies.
captain America 2 and iron man manage to be good despite lacking a good villain though, but the avenger movies are made to be the most epic events...and loki was the bad guy.

I think the star wars teaser trailer would be perfect as the final trailer 
nothing is spoiled, I'm completely surprised, and the trailer is good enough to make me go pay money to see it.

I did watch the Star Wars teaser and that was perfect. As far as a trailer needs to go with a known franchise like that.

RDJ recently said he's not Jarvis, but I think he was just splitting hairs on the definition of what constitutes a "character".

yeah, but you know that's just the teaser when that should be the whole fricking trailer
of course, the full trailer for the phantom menace was brief and gave up zip, turns out the movie sucked balls...but still
frick, scaling down trailers would probably influence me to go to the movies MORE often.

Trailers are great for unknown movies, but if there's a movie I know I want to see I will avoid the trailers like the plague. I get so many weird looks when I'm in theaters and I have my head down and fingers in my ears during the trailers part haha.

I don't think it's too bad when it's unknown, you can be brief and give us the general idea of the movie
movies are all about images.
again, the longer the trailer, the more shite it has in it, the better chance I have of determining if it is going to be good or not.
