I still love the Conan rap mashups with him. I've already forgive him.

I really do like him a lot. One Of the more down to earth and relatable anchors out there. But what he did was stupid.

And I think he used that to his advantage until it finally caught up with him. I'm disappointed in him; this needs to be a lesson to other personalities to just keep their mouths shut about shite like that.

This reminds me of the scene in Happy Gilmore, when Happy is suspended for a month, and he can't believe it, and Scooter can't believe he wasn't thrown off the tour.

It may be an antiquated concept in today's news media, but I long for a time when we could trust our journalists. We can't do that with him now.

I guess I would miss him if I ever watched the NBC nightly news.

Something? Multiple things... More and more of his claims are being discredited.

Dude is a compulsive liar

A better response would be to make him a reporter in Barrow, AL or something.

You know, that actually isn't a bad idea. He should have to go to some small market and be forced to cover crap stories for six months. Make him earn his stripes back.

"...and local fire officials say the fire hydrant should be fixed by the end of the day. For Dothan's Eyewitness News, this is Brian Williams."

Lol of course you think this.

Lying about news when a newscaster is a rather big deal.

So he'll only make 5 million this year? Harsh punishment.

Always looked orange. Doubt he sits in that chair again, or that he's the last spray-tanned goober I can't trust.

Have y'all seen what his daughter is having to do to support the family? It really is a sad story.

What? This is a dumb statement on many levels. For one, you seem to think ALL news outlets are like Fox News and MSNBC where they sensationalize everything to fill a 24 hour schedule.

A thirty minute newscast, on the other hand, only has time to objectively report the facts and nothing more. They leave the speculation to the viewer.

It's very obvious that you don't watch the news at all and only cry about the "biased media" out of ignorance.

I've said this several times in other threads, but the cornerstone of journalism is integrity. When people stop trusting in what you report, you're done. Plain and simple.

Well at least he has been revealed for the "entertainer" he has always longed to be. The problem with Brian Williams is that he never wanted to be a reporter...he always wanted to be an anchor. He says this without the merest hint of self-awareness, very matter of factly, as if we all should be enthralled.
I don't know why NBC is acting all high and might with him now, because they got exactly what they wanted with him- a pretty boy who slow raps the news and has no real journalistic integrity. He is literally the William Hurt character on Broadcast News made real. I guarantee you he watched Broadcast News as a younger man just like I did. But he didn't walk out thinking I'd still rather be Albert Brooks and have integrity- he thought the William Hurt character was the real aspiration.

If a news reporter lacks credibility, they will not have a job. And I believe this 6 month hiatus will end up being permanent.

He can go work for Fox News, they dont care. Did everyone forget about Geraldo Rivera?

quote:

In 2001 a Geraldo report described watching a massacre via friendly fire earlier that same day, however the friendly fire happened the day before, killed three people and hundreds of miles away from where the Fox reporter was at the time.

Not to mention the safe incident from way back, the giving away of military location, and of course pushing someone out of the way so he can be in the cam view during a katrina rescue.
