While they involve Nazis, they aren't really WW2 movies as they occur in the 1930's before the war started.

Probably not a strict WWII movie, but...

The scene in Casablanca where all the French people are singing La Marseillaise was one of the more powerful WWII movie scenes considering that the cast was made up of many European refugees who did not know what was going to ultimately happen in Europe at the time of filming in 1942. It adds an emotional level.

I cannot stand this movie. There were no hippies in the 1940's. WW2 was long before the beatniks even showed up and they were the precursers to the hippies. Donald Sutherland ruined that movie for me.

Band of Brothers is flat out some of the best writing, acting and cinematography ever done, needless to say it's the best WW2 "movie" (though a series) ever made.
Pacific was good... But the writing and storytelling didn't touch BOB... Nor did I feel attached to any particular characters' stories the way I became emotionally involved with the BOB guys.
