Gotten bitten by a snake, or some other wild animal. Otherwise basically what you're telling me is everyone can go hang out in the woods and just have to deal with the hunger/food/water aspect

I dont believe the show is fake per se. I think the producers or camera men get them to say things and stress how alone and hungry they are. But I dont think they do things that will affect the outcome or give the players worse or better chances. If they did, it would come out really quick.
