Why would you not want to see Elliot?

I know Elliot's mental psyche and inner battle is main focus of the plot. It had just gotten to me to be uninteresting and exhausting. One step forward and two steps backwards type of thing.

The FBI agent made a tactical error there. Instead of just inferring that she had the goods on him, she laid her cards on the table. Once he saw she didn't have anything on him, asking for a lawyer was easily going to get him off.

Looks like he may have got got anyway

I loved seeing what happens when Darlene is pushed. She is definitely showing her commitment to the cause and how weak the others really were. All of this "bring down the world" sounds like a righteous cause in theory. However, it is a terrifying thing in reality and now most of the group gets to reap what they sow.

I am digging the turn of Angela. She will be the main villain in the end, I think. She has really let herself turn to the darkside. They are doing a really good job with her turn as well. As with Luthor and Vader, they believe what they are doing is for the better good until its too late. This season has been just as good, maybe better, than season 1. Such a feat for Esmail since he wrote, directed, and showrunning the entire season. Bravo!

I think Elliot will be the villain. Antagonist may be the better title for Angela

It was nice watching an episode where you could be reasonably certain what you were watching was actually taking place.

Yea she was nails this episode. Despite her thinking she got the better of that plumber in their exchange though, he absolutely owned the hell out of her.

I don't think the shot composition is as good this season, but still a great show.

Honestly I think it's been better than season 1 in this respect. They've framed some amazing scenes so far.

Esmail made the entire season as sort of an homage to The Empire Strikes Back, and it's beginning to feel that way.

what? no

He said looking back he was reminded of Empire and how it opens with the empire taken down but still fighting w the rebels. That was only after he finished it and he was thinking about it in retrospect. He also mentioned Godfather 2.

Lets discuss Tyrell: do we think he is dead? He was in the trunk of the car during Mr Robots fake reality for Elliott. We heard him on the phone, but that scene has proved to be unreliable.

It's really looking more and more likely that he is dead.

I am the same. A lot of crazy shite went down. But I really wanted to see Elliot this week and find out about Craig. They ended last weeks episode with a great reveal. Now we have to wait a total of two weeks before we find out more.

It's not any different from GOT and the Season 5 cliffhanger, then Season 6 Episode 1 and 2 without going into detail. You can also reference tons of other shows that have done this. LOST only showing one character or a few and not the other cast at all for sometimes 2-3 episodes, TWD focusing an entire episode on the Governor, etc.

I didnt realize Elliot wasn't in it at all until around halfway. I dont think they could have pulled this off last season but it was a great episode and entertained me until the end. Which is interesting because on the normal episodes that include Elliot as the centerpiece, anytime Angela comes on I almost completely lose interest (like Sky on BrBa). I actually really enjoyed this episode.

I enjoy all the callbacks this show likes to do, this time Ron's Coffee and his slower internet speed shop compared to the opening scene of the series and it's gigabit wireless, and the incinerator.

eta: also talking about the shot composition and framing, how amazing was the pool scene? The wide shot was awesome they used the whole time. When she ended up in the water I thought to myself how brilliant these framed shots are.

I was waiting for Mobley to crack while he was being interviewed but dude stayed strong.

But what happened to him? We aren't exactly sure yet. Like the FBI agent told Dom: "Whatever paranoia you wanted to put inside him you did it just by picking him up"

Then we see him send a self destruct message to Trenton about the meetup, yet he never showed up after 2 hours. I have to think he's dead like Cisco said earlier in the episode: "Once the FBI catches on to you (because that's what's going to happen) that's it, the dark army will make it lights out"

Sadly I think DJMobley is a goner.

He's not dead. He was too strong of a character to go out like that off-screen. I think it's clear Joanna still knows he's alive as well. He will come back in a huge way IMO. This will be the twist of Season 2. Not the prison (like others, I noticed this from the 2nd episode with the repeating settings) But Tyrell being alive and in a precarious position. They made a point to show the dinner party where Tyrell met Scott and Sharon Knolls for the first time on the last episode and they made it a point to mention Tyrell was shooting for CTO but would only get it if Colby quit or died. Then they showed Joanna's earrings she was wearing that night and jumped back to current time with her baby and she was wearing the same ones. Then the red paint and the screaming in silence with the Mr. Robot title card happens. The title cards of this show are amazingly important (all of them)

The phone call where she ran outside to see if it was Tyrell bc she thought he was outside the building is also a pretty big tell.

He's alive.

I think season 1 had way more shots like this. The board room silhouette shot in s01e01 especially.

I just finished episode 8. Holy shite this is the greatest show.

I dunno. In the last episodes alone you had these:

And there's more from just the last 2 episodes. I think there are way more this season IMO.

ETA: FYI, some people over on /r/mrrobot found this after some internet detective work starting on the official mr. robot webpage:

I agree with you, but Episode 4 & 5 really pick it up and get the wild ride going again.
