I figure this is a huge wake up call for the nation. I think that moving forward to be inclusive, awards for white actors should be capped at 1/3 of all oscar awards, the rest sure go to Blacks, Latinos, Asians, Native Americans, and Indian for Bollywood.

Would that appease Jada and the rest of the Black Oscars people?

If every role in ever movie and every job in Hollywood was held by African Americans.

I'm working on this project at the moment and it could be prime for an Oscar nod due to the current climate

I think people who did the best job should deserve them.

Why don't the people who are so upset address their real problem. Black actresses, actors, directors, etc. aren't getting enough opportunities in "good" roles or movies.

I'm a nobody from Shreveport and
I can see that. So they can to. I guess it's easier just to bitch about it on Twitter or call out a faceless organization for not lowering their standards.

I think one third of all starters on all NFL and NBA teams need to be white also.

If anyone listened carefully to Rock and others, the issue was that there should be more opportunities for roles. It's not about quotas for the Oscars. Jeezus.

This is literally what Spike Lee originally proposed in his initial complaint: a Rooney Rule for hiring executives to have more diverse voices at the decision maker level. In fact, almost every person affiliated with #OscarsSoWhite has suggested this exact thing: that the all-white slate at the Oscars is a symptom, not a cause, and we need more diversity in the making of films.

So why attack the Oscars? The entire time they have been bitching not about Hollywood, but about the Academy and the awards.

Both of which are absolutely absurd. The idea that blacks are not super represented in the entertainment industry is laughable.

Not if they're all white. Have you not been paying attention. Merit is not important, equal representation is.

So... if the director don't want the main character to be white, we should automatically give the job to someone that's not white first?

HOw will they divy up who has to be stuck with nonwhite cast?

I say non-white is because I feel that by saying black oscars, that only black actors matters. Well there are Asian and Hispanic too. So we'll lump them all in there together.

Although... if the movie flops... who has to bite the bullet on that one?

I'm an advocate competency. Whoever is good, they should be hired/awarded. This is the case of the NBA. NBA is 78% black. It's 78% black because the best players are 78% black. It has nothing to do with quotas. Nothing wrong with that.

however, when we look at other areas where there's blacks are not represented, SJWs/liberal media pushes for media. That's BS...it's either quotas all the way or competency. Which is it? Can't pick and choose to whichever suits you. That'll be confusing as sh*t.

How many BET awards will be set aside for white actors?

Agreed. Find me a single white corner in the NFL.

The Academy has been criticized several reasons when it comes to awards. One, the general voting membership still is dominated by the old guard. Typically, older and white. The category awards' voting membership (e.g., producing, writing, editing, design, etc) can be even more narrow. So the criticism really is about more than race. It was just obvious this years with no black nominees in a year that had some noteworthy candidates (e.g., Idris Elba, Beasts of No Nation, etc).

The industry itself, regardless of its liberal politics, remains very insular. Honestly, it's still mostly Jewish white guys. So I think there is a question as to whether non-white actors are considered for roles that they could perform well. As Rock pointed out, it's not really about overt, intentional racism. It's more like a sorority or fraternity.

Publicity. This is when people are paying attention. This gives their criticism a legit hook that people will pay attention to. Of course, the problem is that people only pay attention to the hook, and not the substantive policy complaints, which have been almost entirely about minority representation in boardrooms and more opportunities to minority actors/directors.
