...or re-made, as the case may be.

For me, right now, I'd like to see:

A big-screen adaption of Gibson's "Neuromancer"

A big-screen adaption of Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness" (reportedly, del Toro was going to make it at one point, but it never happened.)

A good big-screen telling of the massacre at Mai Lai, one that doesn't cater to either the apologists or the outraged.

The 2nd and 3rd books of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series (the Swedish versions are okay, but the English version of the first book was good enough to rate making the sequels as well.)

A revival of "The Prisoner" for modern viewers

More seasons of "Carnivale"

What would y'all like to see happen?

They did this with Cavezial a few years ago and it missed the mark. I'd like to see another though.

Also a Punisher and World War Z premium channel or netflix series.

I think a tv series spinoff of the movies Rounders and Gladiator (boxing version) would be popular

I'd like to see something on the Spanish conquests in South America (Incas, Aztecs, etc.). Just read "Last Days of the Incas," and it was fascinating how 168 guys took down a 10 million man empire.
I'd also like to see some more movies on Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, but done right. More "Interview," less Queen of the Damned."

I want to see HBO do a mini series of Ready Player One. I don't think a movie would be able to do it justice.

I was going to say I don't understand why with the success of the books, Mitch Rapp or Scot Harvath or Gabriel Allon franchises aren't attempted. My amateur belief is that credible protagonist spy/military movies at least make decent money, and there is a ton of content out there to use.

Then I looked up and it appears Mitch Rapp is going to the big screen, so that's good.

Outdoor adventure movies are hard, but an epic about Shackleton would be great. A well-done Everest/K2 movie has still never been done. Into Thin Air would be very hard, but I hope someone eventually makes a credible version.

Nic Pizzolatto's "Galveston" could make for a great movie.

I want to see a remake of The Running Man that resembles the book.

ETA: 2025 is only 10 years away.

ETA2: I wonder if The Long Walk could make a good transition to the big screen.

I would like to see a Mitch Rapp movie. I would also like to see a Jack Reacher movie played by someone that is close to the same dimensions Reacher is in the books (6'5", 250 lbs).

I want Movies turned into Cable series.

I like to binge watch. I also like in-depth character & story development that a cable series can provide.

Each season is like watching a 13 hour movie... as opposed to waiting for 3-to-5 years for a 2-hour movie sequel.

Graphics are advanced enough to do some blockbusters efficiently like Star Wars, Star Trek, The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc.. and not suffer significantly CGI-wise, all the while expanding character/plot development.

A movie like say Lincoln Lawyer could have been a big hit as a cable series with enough leeway for successive seasons & new plotlines.

Flashpoint from 1984

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087268/

quote:

Two Texas border guards find a jeep buried for 20 years in the desert, with a skeleton, a scoped rifle, and a box with $800,000 in cash. They decide to keep the money, but quietly check up on the info they find. Soon the Feds are running all over the place, and it looks like jeep maybe linked to the JFK assassination. But the Feds are trying to cover it up, and eliminate anyone involved with the jeep.

Pointless. The Secret Service accidentally killed JFK so this would just be a series chasing ghosts.
