IT and The Thing as a kid. I always thought that the Exorcist was an overrated piece of shite, but that's coming from someone who watched it for the first time as an adult and an atheist. I suppose if I was a believer it might have freaked me out. The Descent was a little spooky, but not scary.
TBH, episodes of Supernatural creep me out more than 99% of horror movies.

I was truly scared of dark bathrooms because of this movie....bloody mary, bloody mary, bloody ma AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
A few movies creeped me out as an adult but none had a more powerful effect and disturbed me more than Requiem for a Dream.

The Exorcist has to be tops on this list. That was an extremely disturbing movie to watch.
I remember once watching it as a teen in the 80's (having already seen it before), and the power went out. I was an athletic, macho 15 yr old boy, and when everything suddenly went black with that "thump" noise you get with outages, I let out a little girl scream.

The Exorcist is probably one of the most unnerving movies I've ever seen.
I didn't see it in the theater, but I imagine for the era it came out, it was pretty freaking scary. Check out the teaser trailer for the movie. It's freakier than the damn movie to me.
I couldn't imagine going to see some stupid movie in the 70s and then this freaking thing playing. I read that it was discontinued shortly after debuting.

Whoa, I never saw that one before. I actually made a trailer for The Exorcist "Making Of" while in film school and I had some of those white flashing faces in it. I'll have to see about posting it.
Anyway, The Exorcist is my #1. Still gets me to this day.
The Shining really freaked me out as a kid. Some of the gifs in here and the hot chick that turns into a horrible old lady really got me. I didn't want to take a shower afterwards. I was scared I would pull the shower curtain and there she would be
Salem's Lot got me good as a kid too. I always thought that kid would be scrapping outside my window if I opened the curtains

I thought the remake was decently creepy in some parts. When they shook all violently, that kinda freaked me out. Like this:
Also, that one room where old dude gets locked up and the creepy carnival-ish music is playing...that was pretty weird. Even weirded playing Mario 64 and being in the basement of that ghost house with the same carnival-ish music playing ( this part).

Two old movies that scared the shite out of me as a kid were The Town That Dreaded Sundown (based on a true story) and Funhouse.

The Strangers messed me up. I lock the deadbolt on every door in my house now.
Strangers definitely came to mind. Funny Games is pretty creepy, not sure if terrifying, but similar plot as Strangers, but it's a German flick so not for everyone if you don't like subtitles.

Jaws 2 I saw it before I saw Jaws.
Alien I remember I was like maybe 10 and my dad let me and my older brother watch it on HBO when mom was out of town. It scared the shite out of me...

Children if the Corn scared the crap out of me the first time I saw it as a kid. Which is quite unusual for me.

As a kid "IT" fricked me up for a while. I was in 3rd grade when I watched the 2 night premiere on ABC. It was my biggest scare memory as a kid, but watching it again when I was 14, it just didn't hold up as well then.
I watched the Exorcist for the first time in junior high and it got me then, and it still does if I'm already in a "scary" state of mind and I start thinking on it. The Devil and Demons really frick with me.
And the Ring. I watched it by myself one night on HBO in like 2003. Had insomnia and it was coming on at like 2am so I gave it a shot and didn't think it was gonna be that bad. WRONG! I fricking kept insomnia because of that shite. For like 5 days or so. I've never really tried watching it again to see if it still holds power over me, but I'd imagine it does. It just had all the perfect factors that can get past all my "bullshite, I'm not afraid of that" sensors. I used to leave my TV on all night to help me sleep, that shite went out the window. The image of the little girl stuck with me forever. And the whole "ghost wins" shite didn't help either, I mean there was really no resolution. It just ends with you knowing this bitch is still out there and she's probably coming for me.
