I know I'll get blasted for this, but Avatar made me believe that movies can still make me say "Wow".

You won't get flack from me. It was a very immersive experience.

Im gonna probably have to duck, but as a kid, The Last Starfighter really got me.
Why would you have to duck?

This board loves The Last Starfighter. I saw it in theaters.

I still liked Flight of the Navigator better.

That is why I like Lady in the Water so much. That movie just brings you in and doesn't let go until the end if you're willing to take the ride.
I've always been a big fan but I knew going in that the movie was based on a bedtime story Shamalamadingdong told his kids when he put them to bed. So I was expecting a fairytale style.

I was expecting LOTR to be amazing so it didn't sneak up on me like some of the ones mentioned.

I will say my favorite movie theater experience ever was watching the extended cuts of Fellowship and Two Towers then seeing the theatrical cut of Return Of The King.

And no, The Return ending didn't bother me in the least other than the fact it was SHORTENED from the book. I miss the scouring of the Shire.

His relationships with both his mom and dad, along with his classmates and his teacher, make that a great watch.

That whole damn movie is about relationships (his dad's co-workers/subordinates, the principle, the whole mine/town, Wernher von Braun, etc).
