Movies that make you think: "How did this get made?"

The Three Musketeers 2011 version is on TV right now.
This movie is just all around bad. And not even in a lovable or campy or funny way. From CGI to script to acting to directing to plot.
Every aspect is horrible. And they actually have a good cast, but the director and writer were just too shitty to overcome. It feels like this was a C student in film schools first attempt at film making and someone happened to give him a huge budget.
This is the type of movie that I have to imagine there were some people on set that had to know how horrible it was.
Worst part is, the three Musketeers is actually a great book and story. This pile of crap doesn't do it justice.

Anything Uwe Boll is involved in, a lot of the films on netflix, and the human centipede TRILOGY.

I clicked this thread to say that movie. Watched it for 2 minutes. The moment I realized the ships were flying, I thought, "How the frick did this get made?"

A 225 million dollar 47 Ronin movie

Gigli.. Maybe if they would've stuck with the original script it could've worked but damn.. What a steaming pile of crap this movie was that had some decent actors and cameos.. Once the re-writes started coming in, somebody should've just said.. We can't make this pile of shite.

I mean the airships were a central plot point.
Ridiculous, but central.

Holy shite, that sounds bad. It's been awhile but I don't remember airships in the original Dumas book....

Given the past I dunno, 16 remakes, there's very little in any of them that have much to do with the book.
I'll get flamed for this, but I really enjoyed The Musketeer, with Justin Chambers, which was basically D'Artanian the Ninja. I really don't know why I liked it, but I do.

Paul WS Anderson directed that movie and he was coming off the role as architect of the very successful resident evil franchise
add in the LOTR hangover plus the budget was only $75M
also it was financed by Europeans and not American studios
