Movies that haven't aged gracefully....

I tried watching face off the other day and it was awful. I also re watched silence of the lambs and it seems to be showing its age, a lot more than some of the other great early 90s flicks.
What are some other movies that haven't aged too well?

I recently watched SOtL and thought the exact opposite, weird.

Agreed. Silence of the Lambs holds up well.

Scarface was the first movie that came to mind. Everything from the music to the fashion to the way the film was shot all seem really dated to me.

What?!?!? Do you not have an appreciation for comedy that's more than just dick jokes and a laugh track?
The BttF movies don't count. Fun fact: we're now as far from 1985 as Marty was from 1955. :yikes:

For the most part, great films age fairly well. It's impossible not to note some age on the greats of the 1930s to 1950s, because filmmaking hadn't matured - they had limitations on lighting, sound, camera trolleys, lenses, etc.
But, a well-crafted film is simply going to age better than the fluff and popcorn of the same era.
Breaking it down by genre, I would say westerns, thrillers and, perhaps drama films doing a little better, comedies kind of in the middle, and science fiction and action films doing a little worse.
Now, even this is a little subjective - obviously films like Some Like it Hot stand out - it doesn't look "new", but if it was in color - it might have pulled off a mid-to-late 60s vibe (because Wilder was so influential) - and a film like Forbidden Planet, although highly influential, looks exactly like what it is - a mid-1950s science fiction (although one of the very best of the era).
The truly groundbreaking films, honestly, sometimes are only dated by the color palette of the film and the viewer's outside knowledge of the age of the actors. Butch and Sundance, for example - timeless, except we just know it was late 60s.
And I don't think SotL has aged poorly. Pulp Fiction and Shawshank have aged better, but I think that is more of a good thing for those films than bad for SotL.

BttF II was partially set in 2015 for this very reason - 30 years backward - then 30 years forward (and III was 100 years backward.)

Yea this type of genre does poorly over time. The jokes arent funny anymore and the action is predictable, cliche and lame.

I actually watched Beverly hills cop for the first time last year and thought it was awful. Not funny and the theme song played every ten minutes.

Good call, I remember catching a few minutes of the first batman and it was god awful, probably worse than anything else listed. And regarding silence of the lambs, u guys are right, it hasn't aged as well as pulp fiction or shawshank, but it's nowhere near as bad as some of the other films mentioned.
I think movies that are set in the era they are filmed(or in the future) are the first to show signs of age, as they are a reminder of now defunct styles and trends of the times. Movies that are set in the past don't suffer the same fate, as they are already "dated" at the time of the release(shawshank redemption, unforgiven, etc). In a way pulp fiction has aged well because it already had that retro 70s vibe to it.
