Movie you thought was awesome at first watch and terrible later

When I was a kid, CBS would periodically show a cartoon version of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe." I thought it was one of the best things I had ever seen.
Much later in life, I found the movie at Blockbuster and rented it for old times' sake. It was awful.

300.
I thought that movie was amazing when I saw it theaters. I cannot get through ten minutes of it now. It is a fricking abortion.

Good addition.
Have you seen Sin City? I am kind of the same boat with that movie.

I remember loving the original Amityville Horror the first time I watched it. I re-watched it recently and hated it. Couldn't wait for it to end.

Agreed, though I was less enthralled by Sin City in the first instance than I was with 300. I actually like Sin City better than 300 now. But Sin City is not a great movie and relies heavily, heavily, heavily on the graphic design of the film rather than telling a compelling story. Oddly enough, as compelling as the story of Thermopylae is in history, in 300, it's boring. It was the beginning of my love for Zack Snyder. That love lasted until I saw 300 at home. That became the beginning of my hatred for Zack Snyder.
My hatred for him has yet to begin to wane.

Every Star Wars prequel
Batman Returns
Avengers - not terrible, but nowhere near as good as I first thought.

I find this is a horrible mistake to make. Over the last few years or so I've re-watched the Power Rangers and Pokemon movies thinking it would be a great moment of nostalgia... they both sucked.

I'm going to stay away from the ones that I thought were awesome as a kid because I could name quite a few. Fargo is one for me as an adult.
