Undeclared.

Also, Jersey Girl.
Not because it's a great movie, but because Afleck's stock was so low when it was released, it became a punchline. It's one of those decent movies that could've been a great movie without Afleck.

I have two nominations, both of which involve Daniel Day Lewis. First is Last of the Mohicans. This is a wonderful movie that deserved more Oscar credit than it received. The story is compelling, the acting is terrific, and the movie is beautifully filmed. The movie also has an extraordinary soundtrack--most of you will have heard the music from this film even if you can't put your finger on its source.

A second movie is The Age of Innocence, which was directed by Martin Scorsese and is arguably one of his best works. This ia very complicated story set in New York in the 1870s--here again, it is beatifully filmed and intricately done.

Both of these movies flew under the radar, but I thought that both deserved stronger Oscar consideration.

Gangs of New York, King Arthur, Open Range, Starship Trooper, and Tombstone (one hell of a cast!).

The Count of Monte Cristo

Very good choice.

I would have to throw "In Bruge" in there. Great dialogue.

Bound was very good, a very tightly made movie, not a wasted second in the story.

Sling Blade
was good but had a serious flaw. The main theme is that the a-hole boyfriend is the evil presence in the lives of the characters. The actual evil is the mother, who allows the BF into their lives repeatedly. Evil always exists, it is her weakness which allows him to happen. She was shown as a good person, the screenwriter should have portrayed her weakness. IMHO, but I digress.

Day of the Jackel
, the original from 1973, not the recent abortion.

One suggestion from me. Deep Rising, totally intense action sci/fi thriller.

Another one is Eyes Wide Shut. Alot of people dog the living shite out of this film bbut i think it was brilliant.

that movie was ruined by the stupid love story. had it not had that interlaced throughout, i might agree with you.
