Micheal's biggest mistake was marrying a non-Sicilian. Still surprised The Don let him do it.
The "we can't wait" scene was one of the greatest in cinema. You are made fully aware that Michael will be the Boss one day, not Sonny, not Fredo. Michaael is the guy.
Coppola should have won the Academy award for that scene alone - it was brilliant.

Aren’t you like 20 years old?

Michael straight up volunteers to kill 2 people like 30 minutes into the movie but everyone is like “muh transformation”
Well this is just not true
You try too hard sometimes

His father pushed him to be a straight arrow...sort of like sending a kid to military school to change them. That never deters true nature.
Michael was never going to be a straight arrow under the best of circumstances. He would have been a sleazy lawyer/politician skating just this side of the law

He was a war hero, so it really wasnt
Yeah, it really was. Because as much as Michael liked to tell himself that killing Sollozzo and McCluskey wasn't personal...it was. Sollozzo tried to have his father killed, McCluskey punched him in the face. The Japanese were just random people who stood against him and coming home. They were faceless, nameless people. Sollozzo and McCluskey were anything but. It's like Sonny told him when he first proposed the idea: "This isn't the army where you shoot 'em from a mile away. You get right up close and budda-bing you blow their brains out all over your nice, Ivy League suit."

Merciful, imo. People who commit abortion should face the death penalty.

As opposed to all of those people her Mafia husband and his friends killed??

A part of Michael died with Apollonia and she was a terrible actress (as noted above).
I keep saying it when the topic is brought up, but this to me was the event that changed Michael.

None of this happens if they kept Apolonia out of it and Godfather becomes the greatest romantic movie of all-time.

Yeah, but every guy's had to do it at least once. Metaphorically speaking, at least.

his father would have agreed with that hit.
he likely would have frowned upon turning your back on your wife.

Kay Adams was terrible. Keaton’s performance was like a paint smudge on a masterpiece…a wet fart from a super model…insufferable. Junk.
