I guess I missed this. How did Megan run Stephanie off?

Megan implied that Don would want to tell her how she should live and wouldn't like that the baby daddy was a pot dealer in prison, and would basically control her life in the guise of being helpful - which is bullshite.

Then she basically bought her off with the $1,000 to get her to leave.

Megan was irrationally jealous of the concern Don had for Stephanie and didn't want her there to take Don's attention away from her.

Stephanie saying she knew all of Don's secrets is what made Megan change her attitude and not so subtly hint to Stephanie that she didn't want her to stay.

Stephanie picked up on the jealousy - she even went so far to tell Megan "nothing had ever 'happened'" between her and Don.

Megan lied to Don and said Stephanie insisted on leaving and that she tried to get her to stay.

TL;DR - Megan knows Don is just going through the motions and is doing everything she can to manipulate him into being under her spell.

Also, that was the most awkward threeway ever. When a scene with John Hamm shirtless in unsexy, something is very wrong.

Interesting episode to say the least. Really strongly focused on the theme of youth and how the late 60s really accelerated the change in societal behavior. The computer is right smack in the middle of it all, acting as the microcosm of all the changes we're seeing in character's lives. Don's awkward threesome in which he seemed to not even grasp that something such as that was possible, Sally blatantly defying her mother right to her face, Ginsberg going off the deep end and taking part in self-mutilation then immediately being hauled off to the surely newly-built psyche ward, Lou attempting to hang on to some outdated patriotic idea of a cartoon while the hip young crowd laughs at him, Don thinking business still works in the same way it used to where he can simply swoop into a room and woo the client with his charm and guile. It will be interesting to see if Weiner allows Don's old tactics to succeed in this changing, modern world .. he hasn't had a whole lot of success so far.

It was awesome seeing Don make a great move again. I have this bad feeling though that it might have been his last hurrah - hope I'm wrong about that.

Just watched, awesome episode.

1. Don back on his game, 3some in Cali then back to New York to style and shite all over Lou.
2. Ginsberg.
3. Harry Crane helping sloots get agents.
4. But where was Roger
5. Betty is a count. I speak Italian.
6. Megan is also growing into a count.

I've been a huge Betty hater for awhile, and thought she should have been reduced to a very minor role in the show after the divorce, BUT I thought she was great last night. She was delivering the boom to Henry. Loved the Italian line.

Henry was being a major misogynistic a-hole to her and she put him in his place. She did act like a child with Sally, but I was referring to the Henry scenes.

Henry's an elected official and she was trying to get the better of him in front of other people. She looked stupid doing that.

This sums it up quite well. The youth of that period, damn

She really didn't boom Henry. However, Sally completely destroyed her and that was wonderful to watch.

How did she boom Henry? She came off as the immature woman she is.

I think it's becoming apparent that the end of this show will be Don and Harry creating the top ad agency in the country, and they'll be housed in sunny California.

Harry just made a HUGE in with Don Draper. I'm not sure how they'll get there. I'm sure Don will have a big fall before the end.

Just because Sterling Cooper Price has a computer doesn't mean they're entering the future of advertising. Hell, they hired Lou who is as archaic and boring as it gets.

Also, the computer tech guy admitted that the product he is selling is old. He thinks an older model is just fine even if newer ones are available. That's what SCP is. An older model despite newer ones being available.

Harry's had the upper hand in the agency since season 1. He's the TV guy. TV explodes in the 70s and 80s. Draper Crane will lead the way in commercial advertising.

For some reason Don respects Pete. I can see him joining them. I just want to see Don shove it in Peggy's face

I finally got caught up. Man, what a great episode.

quote:

Don thinking business still works in the same way it used to where he can simply swoop into a room and woo the client with his charm and guile.

Not only do I think that's what he did, I think it worked fabulously. Sales is sales, and when Don is on, he is the best of the best.

I think (hope) what Weiner is trying to do here is remind us that, no matter what changes, there are still certain things that work. Don is the outcast of this group. He is Dick Witman, a poor son of a whore that deserted the Army and stole someone's identity and has managed to become one of the most desirable ad men in the center of the ad world. No matter how bad things have gotten, Don is still the best... When he wants to be.

So Dons hubris has gotten the best of him lately and the work has suffered. But as Freddy reminded him: "Do the work." No one at the office gives a shite. At least Rodger seems to notice that business is just fine, but not great.

What would be awesome is if Rodger goes AWOL and leaves his shares to Don. Don would be primary partner, and there's nothing Burt, Jim, Lou, or that ungrateful count Joan could do about it.
