Yea, I was thinking the same. Ben may not be a physical specimen but he more that makes up for it with shrewd tenacity.

So a theory on here is that Jack is being set up to be Jacob and Sawyer as MIB. That seems plausible.
Do you think Kate is being set up as Richard? Both showed up in chains. Kate has been torn between Jack and Sawyer all along, but always ends up following Jack. In the end I can see her having to choose sides, and ends up being Jack's #1 follower and by shunning Sawyer creates a huge rift.

Kate chose Sawyer last week when she ran away. She lied to Jack, had no intention of coming back with Sawyer, and wanted to run away with him because he was a criminal too. But he rejected her.
He changed as a person, and truly loved Juliet. Perhaps he will darken now that he has lost her, but I don't know if that will drive him to Kate.

Ben may often employ people to do his bidding, but he has no qualms with going out in the field and killing people. There's a reason serial killers get that way, and thats because they are damn good at it. Sayid may be slightly better at it than Ben is (which is why he hired him), but Ben is still a damn good murderer.

I really don't know where people are getting this from. If anything, Hurley is being set up as being the next Jacob. And the MIB has his own agenda and I don't think anything needs to replace him really, since if he gets off the Island, something tells me horrible things will happen. Its just Jacob vs MIB. There are no replacements (Hurley I think is just a replacement for Ben and Locke's position as leader of the Others).
And your Kate theory....

Yeah, I think the love triangle is pretty much over. If Sawyer hooked up with Kate again, that would just be horrible.
And yes, I think that Sawyer will be a much darker character over Juliet's death and side with MIB just so he can go against Jack. If Sayid joins them, I don't think Sawyer will be thrilled since Sayid basically started the string of events that would lead to Juliet's death and would have done everything Jack did if he wasn't shot.

What if it's not even that? The writers may not even take a side between Jacob and MIB. I'm thinking that it may not go any further than it just being a game between two sides, one "white" and one "black". The writers may leave it up to the viewers as to ultimately who is "good" and who is "evil".

Writer Gregg Nations says one of the numbers on 10/22/04 is a mistake. It could be safe to assume that the 10 is the mistake since we know the original flight was on 9/22/04.
