Looking for something to read...thoughts? (Fantasy)

I was a Robert Jordan fan that became a Brandon Sanderson fan. I have now read all of his books and am looking for something new along the same line. I love the way Sanderson interweaves politics, religion and the debate about unforseen consequences of actions taken even when the intentions of the character seemed to be the right thing to do.
I have read most of L.E. Modesitt Jr. Recluse series of books, but the whole order/chaos thing wore thin after a while. I tried Terry Brooks and found his books a tad boring.
Have started Song of Ice and Fire, but having seen the first season of GOT on HBO makes the reading a bit tedious.
Any other good fantasy I should look at? (Not based on some game, please.)

David Gemmell is my favorite fantasy author, but his work is not for everyone and may not be of the same depth of some of the authors you referenced. His stories are more straight forward, but I have trouble putting his books down. Legend is his most well known work, but his Rigante series and his Troy series are the best imo.
Paul Kearney, Greg Keyes, David Eddings are some others I would recommend.

I'm a big fan of the Dragonlance Chronicles by Weis & Hickman. But I really enjoy the Dungeons and Dragons type setting/fantasy aspect that their books are about. I'd highly recommend it. There are a shite ton of different books in the Dragonlance series that are all involved with the same world at different times with some overlap in characters and stuff. It's really easy to get dragged into these books.

If you like Horror, Fantasy, and Espionage combined try the Necroscope Series by Brian Lumley.

The Legends Trilogy of these books are easily the best of the bunch, but Chronicles are not far behind and should be read first before Legends.
R.A. Salvatore's Drizzt books are also outstanding.

I liked the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb and the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. I'm going to read the Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson soon. It was recently recommended to me; I read the first 150 pages or so before Dance with Dragons came out and really enjoyed it.

Yeah, I was actually going to get those not long ago and couldn't find any but the 2nd one at the book store. I checked with my ebook Nook app thing on my iphone and they were due to come out as an ebook in a week (so they're out now). I ended up going with the Lost Chronicles as my second reading of the series and really enjoyed those as well...some of the old people are back in it which drew me in as I was really attached to that group of characters.
The books about the Twins are definitely up next in my reading of the series.

this. The original trilogy plus prequal are great. He has several series set i nthe same world as well, some are better than others and range from ok to really good.

Try Brent Weeks' Night Angel Trilogy
David Eddings has a few series that are very entertaining (The Elinium Series) The first book is The Diamond Throne. Just pay attention to what series comes first ex. The Elinium then The Tamuli or Belgariad then Mallorean.
Can't go wrong with either author IMO.

First 3 books in the Piers Anthony Xanth "trilogy". The series has become a 3x9 trilogy and some what watered down, but the 1st three books were great. May not be as adult as some of the other suggestions but still a great read.

Sword of Truth series is great, but you will notice a lot of parallels between it and Wheel of Time.

frick yea, read these. Although I will say I was a much bigger fan of the night angel trilogy. Assassin's + mystical powers= the shite
You can probably buy that whole trilogy in paperback for like $20
