What a magnificent crash and burn
They should have taken notes from Maze Runner and not split the final movie. Has to suck for the fans though

I understand every movie studio trying to cash in on the YA book adaptations after the success of Hunger Games, but the Hunger Games books were a cultural phenomenon. Divergent was a way less popular rip-off. Not sure why they thought it could be a 4-movie franchise.

Percy Jackson and Narnia got the hook also I assume.
I don't know anything about the other series being discussed here -- the only ones I've watched was Harry Potter and the first Hunger Games movie -- bit I think Narnia kicked the bucket for reasons that should have been obvious from the start...child actors (and children in general, for that matter) grow up fast.
Also, "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" was just so absolutely awful that "The Godfather" itself couldn't have survived a sequel like that. If the books are Christian allegory, I can only imagine God is impatiently waiting to inflict horrible punishments on the screenwriter(s) in the afterlife.

I've read some of the Narnia books and it actually wouldn't have been a problem that the actors were growing up. What is a problem with those stories in my opinion is that the main characters kept getting replaced. As the children got older, they were getting told that they would never go back to Narnia. The main reason I stopped reading and what I think doomed the movie series is the fact that nobody wants to invest time in a series where none of the main characters are still around.

They should really consider making the Red Rising trilogy into film

none of these movies are made for me and I haven't seen most but I kinda like the maze runner thing. I think i saw 1 & 2 and they were ok for what they were.
JMO.
didn't and won't see the divergent stuff nor the twilight stuff but hunger games was ok in parts even after the first but I think I kinda liked Maze Runner more

Woodley was terrible casting
She really is very unconvincing as a heroine. Her combat training scenes in the first movie were completely laughable. It just gets worse throughout the series when they show her fighting or holding a gun.
My wife had me watch the latest movie over the weekend. It had a few decent moments, but the writing and acting were cringe-worthy throughout.
Also, I really just don't like Miles Teller.

I'll never understand how they continually rely on Miles Tellers character, only to have him bite them in the arse. Every movie.

She pulls it off about as well as you can imo

No doubt. She's the worst part of a mess of a franchise.

Red Rising has been an international best seller and should absolutely be made into a film series. Of course, it's Sci Fi and therefore insanely expensive to make, but it is tailor made for film.

I watched this crap 2 nights ago after my wife bought it. I went to the first one in the theaters and then didn't want to make the sacrifice to go back and see the others. Like i told my wife, i'd rather not get a blowjob than go watch these movies at the theater. On a side note, going to the movies means getting a babysitter, so to pay $80 to watch a movie, it better be a good movie.
I was telling her after watching that terrible 3rd one, i don't know how they keep making these movies. It has to cost a shite load to make them and they aren't making a lot of money at the box office, so i'd be surprised if they were even breaking even, and then i see this today.
Just hilarious. What a terrible movie, with a terrible lead actress.

This.
After The Descendants, I thought she was going to be the next big thing in the young actress category.

I think the Maze Runner series had something to do with this. It wasn't promoted nearly as much and turned out to be a better story, IMO.

Halfway through The Descendants I would have bet money that she would be the next "it" girl in Hollywood. I usually get that call right.
Wow, was I ever wrong.
She actually looks pudgy in these Divergent movies. The movies themselves suck, she's not cut out for physical acting - so it was a terrible career move - but that's aside from the fact that she let herself go physically. It's like watching Vice Vaughan in Swingers and then seeing him now.

The Red Rising book series will be one of the next trilogies to come out soon. Books were pretty interesting and the lead character is a male this time unlike Divergent & Hunger Games

The Passage trilogy is in development as well. It should be a quality endeavor too.

I saw the first movie just a few months ago. I guess around the time the 3rd was in theaters. I thought Woodley was actually well cast, but I also thought her strangeness was a reason why. I thought the whole point of the entire series is that she was a divergent, a little strange, and didn't fit into any group. The fact she was in the most physical group only added to that.
I haven't seen the other two movies, so I can't comment on her character's evolution, but I can see where she would be odd in a more physical role. My biggest problem with the first movie was knowing it was a series. The training story arc has been done countless times & the ending sucked.
