Lets talk about Stephen Colbert on Late Show

This fricking hack is in 3rd place after 2 months of being on the air. He is such an incredible fail that I hope CBS pulls this loser off the show sooner rather than later. He is not funny, a fricking bore and his political leanings are killing his show. Anyone with a pulse could have told you this guy was not going to get you any ratings. I despise this frick so much, that I hope he never gets another gig after he is fired from CBS

I think he is horrible as the talk show host of the Late Show.
CBS made a horrible decision.

Just read an article on it. Whereas Fallon and Kimmel have 30+% of their viewers being Republican, Colbert only has 17%. He is a liberal hack and people don't care for it.

I think Late Night hosts should be given 1-2 years to get some traction and develop their show.
That said, Colbert went Left fast out of the gate. That's not how you get ratings in late night network tv. I was hoping he'd be a little more mature option to Fallon.

He's probably no more left than Letterman. But Letterman was smart enough to gather an audience before he started getting on his political soap box. Plus, by that time he was just an ornery old man.

Conan is still the best late night host.
Sure, no one watches TBS but his product hasn't suffered one bit.
Still putting out hilarious work.

Let's just see where he is in another year or so. I suspect he'll be doing fine. CBS won't have a stroke if he's not number one.
And at the criticism that he's too far left. Jeezus Christ.

He's been awesome. So much better than anyone else

I like Colbert however I also liked Letterman, I rarely watch any late night show. From what I have seen of his I think he might be the best interviewer of the big 3. But the late night game now is all about YouTube hits and social media segments. I know my sister dvrs Fallon but just to see those things.

Not sure why that is so funny. He's there to entertain. If people want to watch Jane Fonda get idolized for her Vietnam War actions, they'd watch MSNBC.
I'm sure Fallon is a lefty, as well. But you can watch him without getting a sense of political agenda. If Colbert wanted to push his beliefs he should have stuck with Comedy Central.

Colbert is there to stay. Get used to him or change the channel.
Meyers is currently the best late night host. The best fake news monologue in the business (better than The Daily Show, better than Weekend Update, better than Colbert). The show uses celebrity games and gimmicks sparingly, not as the focus of the show. The band is low-key and perfect for the late night slot.

quote:Here are the two most recent weeks, and Colbert is in 2nd place. It's not a huge lead and I think Kimmel is the funniest of the big 3; however, your post is awfully emotional and clearly devoid of facts. It's quite hackish in fact.

what this thread has taught me is that there is no real consensus and everyone has favorites. So just because YOU don't like a show, doesn't mean other people don. Hell, I never heard anyone say Seth Myers, though my favorite was Craig Ferguson and now I like James Corburn, so obviously Late Night shows are specific tastes. So OPs like this one never make sense to me.

--Kimmel is the funniest, most professional host
--Fallon is great for light hearted-ness, fun, and viral moments
--Conan will always be Conan, and that's great
--Colbert is good for news/political commentary and interviewing his guests. Still needs time to hone this gig.
--James Corben is probably the most underrated. I like how he does the Graham Norton thing of having all of hist guests come out at once so they can all interact. Car Karaoke is probably the best running gag in late night right now. (Don't be surprised if he gets Adele to do it next summer/fall while she's here on her U.S. Tour.)
--Seth Meyers, well...not sure what to say about him. He's as bad now as--yes Jimmy Fallon--was a couple years into his run as Late Night host. He'll get better.
