I still think the Mcallisters were trying to have Kevin murdered and they hired the Wet/sticky bandits both time.

Injury Analysis

quote:

"If this doorknob is glowing visibly red in the dark, it has been heated to about 751 degrees Fahrenheit, and Harry gives it a nice, strong, one- to two-second grip. By comparison, one second of contact with 155 degree water is enough to cause third degree burns. The temperature of that doorknob is not quite hot enough to cause Harry's hand to burst into flames, but it is not that far off... Assuming Harry doesn't lose the hand completely, he will almost certainly have other serious complications, including a high risk for infection and 'contracture' in which resulting scar tissue seriously limits the flexibility and movement of the hand, rendering it less than 100 percent useful. Kevin has moved from 'defending his house' into sheer malice, in my opinion."

"Harry has an interesting reaction to having a lit blowtorch aimed directly at his scalp. Rather than remove himself from danger, he keeps the top of his skull directly in the line of fire for about seven seconds. What was likely a simple second-degree skin burn is now a full thickness burn likely to cause necrosis of the calavarium (skull bone)." That means the skin and bone tissue on Harry's skull will be so damaged and rotted that his skull bone is essentially dying and will likely require a transplant.

Just found this thread today. Now I must go back and watch HA and HA2 this holiday season and think about it from the perspective of all of this overanalysis.

I just watched it again over the weekend. And while I'm sure it's been discussed, how terrible of a person is the little neighbor kid that gets mistaken for Kevin during the head count?

I mean, he just keep irritating the drivers. He opens up peoples bags just to play with the stuff they have in them. He's just a little shithead.

I feel like he didn't get his due.

He actually grew up to be a pretty popular kid. He played football and ran track in High school, and was pretty good but not really college material. Because he could throw the shot pretty good and was a descent linebacker he got on a !-AA school.

However he got some skank pregnant at a Christmas party mid sophomore year and ended up dropping out to marry her and raise the kid. You may think that he lived in the same neighborhood as the McAllisters growing up, so he should be set from his parents, and still be able to stay in school and raise the kids.

Well it turns out his dad had a little problem with his credit, and overextension. Not to mention how his mom had one of the worst cases of keeping up with the Jones's in Chicago in the early 90's. Living next to the McAllister's never helped. Well good old mom and dad were on a trip to the South Pacific one year, really just so they could brag to friends, they didn't have the money to even take the kids. Maxed out the Amex on that one. Well the private plane dad had hired to island hop went down and was lost at sea. They searched for over 2 years but found nothing. Eventually declared dead.

Due to the overextension, good old dad had to stop payments on the life insurance policy. So Johnny and Timmy got nothing but a hug and a room to share from Aunt Clara in Kentucky.

So after he drops out, he took a job selling used cars. Works for 5 or so years busting his arse to make ends meet. Hopping from one dealership to another rising the ranks eventually making manager. Well through his movements he made some good friends in the business and decided they had enough to strike out on their own.

He started his own Chevy Buick GMC and 10 years later had 4 throughout the greater Chicago area. He was doing pretty good for himself, until one afternoon when he came home early from work and Kevin McAllister was railing his wife against the head board. His childhood arch nemesis finally struck his famed cold calculating revenge.

Has anyone discussed the price of pizza in the first Home Alone? They were 12 dollars a pie.

You can still get a large pizza for that much in 2014. The McCallisters were getting ripped off.

Adjusted for inflation, weren't they paying like $20 a pizza in 2014 dollars?

Yes he did, Marv's shoes came off on the outdoor stairs to the basement because Kevin Tarred the steps and the shoes stuck. That's also when Marv had the roofing nail go through his foot.

Kevin knew that the first point of attempted egress would be the basement door, as he had a keen sense for the mind of a criminal. He also knew that whomever tried the basement stair would be the same one to go for the window.....as the other was "allowed" in through the red hot front door knob.

My husband and I went to see the Home Alone house this weekend (we just recently moved to Chicago and the house is about 25 miles north of the city).

It was just sold last year for about 1.5 million, and the people who bought it definitely live there. there's a huge Wisconsin Badgers flag out front, as well as a "No Trespassing Private Property" sign.

ahh but harry having burned himself could have used the window after not getting in the door intially.

marve could have recoverd his shoes, or kevins dad could have had some in the basement, or he could have stolen a pair from another house

I don't understand why Kevin's dad would have reported his credit card as stolen in Home Alone 2. He knew that Kevin had it and would probably need it, wherever he was.
