I really don't see how anyone can say that. It was leaps and bounds better early on. The dynamic of the show was completely different when it was 4 geeky guys and the hot neighbor girl. Penny was used perfectly to contrast geek culture vs. normal culture. Now they've tried to become a geeky version of friends and pair everyone up and the show has suffered greatly because of it. The places they've taken Sheldon's character are terrible.

I agree, I called it terrible, but I can sit in the same room as my wife while she watches it and not care that it is on. I don't like the show, but I don't really hate it. There are much worse things she watches that I will get up and leave.

This just isn't true. Again, the format the first 2 seasons or so was 4 geeky friends and the hot neighbor girl. Like fear said, it was never about these guys being ultra smart, but socially awkward.

Community is much more of a niche pop culture/comedy/nerd/smart niche show than BBT ever was. And I like both shows. Or at least liked both shows. But while the content of BBT might have been nerd related it was structured in a very broad way to where even people who didn't get the references could laugh at the nerd stereotypes
