I'm a huge X-Files fan but I don't like that episode. Definitely one of the more disturbing ones. Lots of people really like it, but it was too much for me. I don't think I have watched it since the first time it aired, and I have seen most of the eps (in the first six seasons) multiple times.

Even if you don't like that one, don't let it scare you off of the show. While the show is often creepy that episode is definitely an outlier.

I'm curious, what makes that episode "too much". I only found one or two parts cringe worthy or uncomfortable ( 1)They break into the sheriffs house and beat him and his wife to death. 2)When Mulder & Scully discover the mother.

How old are you? That level of horror, twisted sexual deviance and violence were not the norm for movies let alone TV.

Sure, if a 20+ year old popped it in now, they probably wouldn't think twice about it.

But.... that has more to do with the escalation of violent movies, torture porn and over the top games.

A quad amputee mother kept under the bead who has sex with her deformed kids would still have a tough time today getting past the Powers That Be within the networks.

Home came out in 1996. One of the biggest, albeit overblown, tv stories of the year 1994 was a kiss between Roseanne and Mariel Hemingway.

So yeah, quad amputee deformed hillbilly incest wasn't mainstream tv at the time.

Fair enough, I used to watch X-Files with my dad back in the 90's. But I do not remember that episode. I recently watched "Home" and then read a few articles about how it made people uncomfortable. My bad.
