Glad he ended up with Robin ( which I wanted from the beginning) but my God, what a terrible ending.

I haven't watched a single rerun since the finale and never plan to. Even Slapsgiving. (though I may listen to the 'You Just Got Slapped' song from time to time)

It's an acceptable ending if the show had ran for 4 or 5 seasons instead of 9.
The show had evolved beyond that ending but the creators had to show how creative they were in planning the ending from the beginning.

they spent all nine seasons focused on Robin and Ted. all nine. they made all those frustrating "we know she isnt the mother, why are they doing this shite??" moments make perfect sense
they spent about 7 seasons and 1 finale showing us how Barney and Robin were a terrible couple.
they even made tbe plot of the show make more sense by killin tbe mother off (i hated that but it was collateral damage, that girl was way too good for ted anyway
)
a marriage isnt what was going to make barney happy. he clearly showed signs of wanting children
throughout the show. him and robin never wouldve worked in that case. the thing that made him happy was a child.
