I haven't got around to watching Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs but I will eventually
Both are better than Basterds, IMO (and Basterds is one of my favorite movies, FWIW).

i disagree. I think Pulp Fiction is untouchable. A perfect movie. it has my coveted secret 6-star rating

Exactly what i was thinking...QT has made me realize that I think Christoph Waltz may be one of my favorite actors. He is used perfectly in each of these movies.

I've been thinking of this idea for a while and writing a script, but I was thinking of a more of an Asian version of the Inglourious Basterds. Really, the only thing 90% of Americans know about the War in Asia during WWII was Pearl Harbor and the nukes, when really the war in the East was incredibly interesting on its own, even before America entered it. The Japanese make what the Nazis did look like child's play, the Nanjing massacre being one of the most brutal occupations of a city in world history (maybe the most brutal since the Mongolians raped Baghdad).
In my time in China, I watched alot of shitty Chinese shows in order to learn the language more effectively, and their favored programing was gloriously horrible Kung Fu and WWII shows where the Chinese proceed to blow the hell out of the Japanese. I was thinking of combining the two and take it gloriously even more over the top.
Have the Japanese enter a Chinese city, and then one epic badass who survived a previous massacre comes in and teaches the citizens to defend themselves through martial arts and ridiculous weaponry, and they kill all the Japanese in the city, who also have over-the-top styles and henchmen.
The whole film would be in Mandarin and Japanese though, there wouldn't be a white person in the movie, and would certainly be ridiculously bloody by Chinese standards, to where it would be a difficult film to get financed, but I think it could be great.

I really liked Basterds, but I'm going on record with Pulp Fiction being QT's masterpiece.

Hans Landa is Waltz best character.
However, Dr. KIng Shultz was his best performance. Amazing

Waltz steals the show. He completely outclasses everyone on the screen.
Bruhl and Fassbender do a good job as well. Very entertaining movie.

Almost similar to Ip Man if you want to go the revisionist history route. Then again, I have no idea how accurate that movie was.

The most tense opening scene in a movie ever

Hmm, never heard of that movie, but just watched a few scenes from it, and that's sort of what I'm going for. The badass would be more the mentor figure though, while the hero I have in mind is a 17 year old whose sister has been abducted, and is being brutally raped in the meantime while he tries to find a way to rescue her, and becomes a badass in the process. It's that ridiculous kung fu I'm going for, but also add in guns and weaponry, and tons of blood, and that's more the goal.

Ip Man trained Bruce Lee when he was a teenager so there's your 17 year old hero.

Waltz was amazing in this movie.
I love when Pitt says this man wants to die for his country.... Oblige him

Ip Man was pretty good. It was on Netflix for a while I'm not sure if it still is. The made a pt 2 but I doubt I'll watch it.
A newer movie that was just in theatres, Grandmaster was based on the same guy. Bruce Lee's trainer. That movie however SUCKED. It started out nice but then tried to be the most artsy movie ever and just need up being a waste of $10.
Edit: think I bought popcorn. So a waste of $72.
