This movie is what got me in to liking a lot of QT's stuff. I haven't got around to watching Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs but I will eventually
Those are his two best. If you think what you have seen is good then you will be blown away.

I love the first half of the film. When Shosanna becomes the focus in the second half my attention tends to wane. Christoph Waltz is a boss in every scene though.

For whatever reasons I have always found Melanie Laurent (Shosanna) to be naturally very attractive

I agree that to me is the biggest drag on all of Tarantino's films. He must ADD or something because of his inability to trim a film and to keep the subplots as actual subplots. Great concept for the film but the whole Shosanna concept should have been axed in pre-production. Apparently that is what the studio would have had you believe going in to see the movie. It implied that the entire plot or at least the vast majority of it had to do with Aldo Raine's group. I love the Basterds just weird if they were meant to be A plot.

Tarantino should actually look into trying to do a tv show of some type. I was a CSI fan for a long time (and with the ratings it got the first 7 years don't lie you probably watched it to). One of the best episodes (a two parter) was the one he did called Grave Danger. It was the one where Nick Stokes got buried underground. Oddly the structure of CSI usually 55 percent one case/45 percent the other fit his tendencies well. Granted the "two cases" were one but he did such a great job in the finding Stokes/Ransom and then rescuing him make it seem like two separate CSI crimes.

I hated the spinoffs though I haven't watched original CSI on the regular since Grissom left. It seemed like to me Miami was all drug crime, New York was all terrorism. At least original CSI switched it back and forth between Gambling and Sexual Fetish crimes (yes they did Furries, Transexual, Panty sniffers, you name it they did it.)

Pretty much every Tarantino movie runs about 30 minutes longer than it should. Even a movie that isn't directly considered "his" like Dusk til Dawn has problems ending.

Correct. He'd be better served by a slimmer theatrical release and an Extended Cut for the serious fans.

Love the movie, but somewhere in the last third it starts plodding along.

Django is the best example of this. I enjoyed the movie a lot, but it could have been finished so much better.

I absolutely loved Django, but to this point, the length of it has deterred me from watching it for a second time.

The opening scene and the bar scene were amazing. The rest wasn't as great. I was frankly bored in the restaurant. I would have liked to have seen some war scenes I guess and more of the Basterds themselves.

Plus it was hard for me to buy how th eCol let himself get put in such a situation knowing how the Bastards were at the end. I didn't buy it.
