Absolutely. I think it was Mondays, and my buddies would come voer to my house and we'd cut out all the lights, turn off our phones, and get into the show. It was good times.

Did you do this on nights 24 didn't come on too?

Season 5 is brilliant. Season 1 and 2 are excellent. I wasn't a big fan of 3 or 4. We all know 6 sucked. I did like 7 and 8, though.

Also, I thought 'redemption' was very well done. Really enjoyed that

How it worked for me was season 5 and 6 on TV, then 1-4 on DVD over a summer, then 7 and 8 on TV. I'm also currently watching all of them at school on Netflix with one of my friends who has never seen the show. We completed seasons 1 and 2 before Winter Break, so I've now seen those twice. To finish season 2, we started at 12:30 a.m. one night, and finished at 7. Nine episodes in 6.5 hours until 7 in the morning (and I've already seen it). Yeah, it can be addicting.

Part of this is probably because it was the first season I watched, but season 5 might be my favorite season of any television program of all time. And that was without having any knowledge at all of seasons 1-4. If I had watched seasons 1-4 first, it would have been even greater, which is saying something.

1 and 2 are great. I vaguely remember 3 and 4, but I think they were both pretty enjoyable, IIRC. Like I said, 5 was absolutely incredible. 6 sucked by 24 standards (which means it was still okay). 7 and 8 were pretty good, but probably a bit of a drop from 1-5.

It's weird, because I watched half of them on TV, half on DVD/netflix. They're two completely different experiences. Netflix is great because you can continue as long as you want, and you remember details a lot better, since they all occur back to back to back. It actually feels like it's happening in real time. But there's something about TV, as well. Having a cliffhanger and knowing you have to wait a week, while frustrating, makes the anticipation and appreciation that much greater.

Without giving away anything, are there different "major storylines" within each season that get wrapped up? In other words, all the shite that happened in episode 1 of season 1 is still going on in some sense at the end of ep 12. Will it take all 24 to get resolution on everything, or are there natural breaks in the stories and beginnings of new ones?

What typically happens is there's normally two storylines in a season. They're different, but normally related. So about halfway, maybe a few episodes after, one sort of concludes, but then a new one emerges.

The latter seasons got a bit more ridiculous and hard to believe but are still worthwhile and far better than the average tv show.

Great series and addictive with the cliffhangers. Burned through four seasons in a couple weeks before I started watching week to week. Last season was a bit weak. Rest are great.

If you're watching with the wife, check out ALIAS next. Action, hot chick, and women like it.

These validate what I said earlier...it must be that season that I was thinking about. Season 5 is just flat out great television.

Agree that 6 slipped a bit, but I still liked it (in part because I was still relatively new to the show). And I enjoyed 7. The first half of 8 struggled a good bit...I remember taking part in the threads on here bitching about it, but then when the second half picked up and Jack started going HAM, it more than made up for everything.

Also, agreed on Redemption. And the preseason "movies" were also very well done. Just an all-around great series really.

Side note, can we get a little Renee love up in here? No spoilers, just pics:

Thank you, you made this thread.

Seasons 1-5 were good

3 was a bit weaker than 6, which felt weak because of how amazing 5 was, but 6 was still ok.

7-8 were better than season 4, but not as good as if you take 1-5 as a whole.. does that make sense?

It was all good though, I loved 24!

Not all of them, but most. I forget which season it was.... I want to say it was season 4, but it was pretty slow.

The first 3 are great IMO.
