In 4 nights, we have watched 12 episodes.

Are all seasons this engaging? I can't imagine having to wait a week or longer between episodes given the cliffhangers at the end of each episode.

We are enjoying the first season, but are wondering if they can keep up with the pace and quality of interrelated story lines for eight seasons.

again, not IMO. But, the good thing is that you can quit after whatever season you want and still feel like you got a complete story line. You won't really feel like you're missing anything by not completing the entire series.

It gets a bit ridiculous when the Evil guy wasn't really in charge but was a decoy for the even more Evvil Guy but later we find out he wasn't really in charge it was another guy who is even more Evvvil.

About the 93rd time this happens it starts to get old. Not to mention the 300 moles.

we're talking about 24, not Lost.

My description fits perfectly for every season of 24. It gets absurd.

Not to mention the 23rd time a building is completely surrounded yet the bad guy gets away.

While this is kinda true, I still love the show.

I started in season 4 as it aired on TV...all my friends watched and LOVED it, so I gave it a shot and loved it too. So I really enjoyed 4-8. I think season 7 was a bit slow, and the first half of 8 was too but it picked up and got all kinds of awesome in the second half.

Since then I've gone back and watched season 1, and liked it. Still need to catch 2 and 3 (I've heard 3 is awesome) though. Season 5 (pretty sure that's the one I'm thinking of) may be one of my favorite seasons of any show ever on TV.

Best show through season 1-5 of all time. I don't know how people watched it live either. I couldn't wait for the next episode either.

It's weird how people judge showsdifferently. 24 should have been a show I loved, but I barely made it through season 1, and gave up a few eps into 2. So much about it was just awful to me.

The first two seasons are fvcking epic.

Like some said, it does get a little ridiculously redundant, but what can you expect from 8 seasons? Also, like they mentioned, most seasons do wrap-up at the end so you don't have to watch all 8 to feel complete (although if I remember correctly there's a MONSTER cliffhanger at the end of one of the mid/late seasons). That would probably be a bad season to end on haha.

Some get slow, but you'll find yourself wanting to see what happens next anyway.

Not that it has to do with any cliffhangers, but, for me, I couldn't wait to see what the next season held.

Cokes...season 3 is my favorite by far. You should get to it ASAP.

And to the guy complaining about the moles....yes, that did get old, but they made up for it one season.

Easily my favorite TV show.

Without giving away anything, are there different "major storylines" within each season that get wrapped up? In other words, all the shite that happened in episode 1 of season 1 is still going on in some sense at the end of ep 12. Will it take all 24 to get resolution on everything, or are there natural breaks in the stories and beginnings of new ones?

For the record, I was hooked about 20 minutes in to episode 1, and now I completely understand why some people I know never watched it live and only bought the DVDs. How the hell could you wait between episodes???

I watched the first season live and loved it at first. By the end of the season I just wasn't into it as much. A couple of years later I started netflixing the DVDs and watched a few more seasons during the summer and holidays when nothing else was on. I think I quit for good after season 5 or 6.

A few story threads carry over, but not to many things that are extremely major. If you don't watch every episode in order you may find yourself scratch your head every now and about, but not for to long.

In the earlier seasons the major threats tend to change but as the series went on, the threats began to be the same thing over and over.

iirc, yes. Each season has its own storyline. Not so much that you would watch them out of order, but if you wanted to quit watching after a season you could easily do so.

I only watched season 1 live. And that was before I had a dvr. We would have 24 parties every Tuesday (I think), and a bunch of us would get together to watch it. It was a good time to watch it with friends each week.

No. Some stories last all season, some don't. Sometimes you'll get resolution when you don't expect it. Sometimes you think you're getting resolution and a whole other angle of that plotline opens up and creates an entirely new plot. It does shite like that. Basically, if you can get over the fact that Jack Bauer keeps managing to have basically the unluckiest and worst days imaginable, then you'll be fine. I found that uspension of belief is required for some of the plots, but the execution always seems at least fairly realistic. And it certainly always keeps you on the edge of your seat..

Absolutely. I think it was Mondays, and my buddies would come voer to my house and we'd cut out all the lights, turn off our phones, and get into the show. It was good times.
