The writers had 5 seasons planned. Netflix suddenly canceled the show and gave them one season to wrap it up due to Florida tax credits expiring and the show would be too expensive to keep going.
Its clear the writers were pissed and just lazily said 'frick it' and wrote an ending.
Ozzys role and death in season 3 is everything you need to know. It's clear they didn't bring his character in season 2 for him to have a completely useless role in season 3 and then end without affecting the story at all. Just sad to see such a great show get such a shite ending

Just finished yesterday. I was sure there was one more episode when I finished because surely that's not how it ends
I started to cringe every time he was on screen because I was getting the feeling nothing at all was going to happen with that storyline. Unfortunately my gut was right

Him going out like that with no effect of the story after becoming a weird prophet that imagined made up priests was the dumbest sequence of ideas put into a high quality dramatic tv show I've ever seen.

That was the thing I truly hated about this season.

I'm 10 minutes in to episode 9 of season 3. Oh my gosh, f this.
Eta-episode 9 was completely ridiculous, but I dont hate the ending. I dont love it, and you can definitely tell it was rushed with the way some planned future plot points were just inorganically mentioned and glossed over, but the ending wasnt ridiculously far off.

Season 3 was fast past and really good until the last 2.

With Bloodline it seemed like the writers and director realized they had two episodes left to wrap it up and they were given a day to make it all happen. They sure as hell seemed to have packed it in after writing a pretty damn good show up to that point.

I don't know if they wrote themselves into a jam in that they didn't have sufficient time to cleanly wrap the storyline up or what but they definitely wasted the last two episodes of the series.
Just finished it last night. These quotes pretty much sum it up. with the second to last episode in season 3. Had to be one of the worst episodes for a series ever. I wanted to turn it off 5 minutes into it.

I'm of the opinion that the showrunners had to have been deep into filming season three when told the show was going to have to wrap it up.
There is no other explanation for them to have created several new plot lines mid to late season that were left wide open when the show ended.
I loved this entire series up until the last 2 eps.

SPOILERS
Who knows what the hell is going on in John's mind?
Kevin is going to do some time.
Meg left town.
The Rayburn House will be underwater in 10 years.

Kevin explaining the family history with Gilbert in a span of 10 seconds is another perfect example.
Really disappointing.

Welcome to the party. Season 1 is the best show I've ever watched. Just choose your own ending.
