I wouldn't go live action with any of the animal movies. Imagine Lady and the Tramp, that would be ruined by Live action. I think Lion King would be too. The play is cool, but that's as far as it could go. There are dozens of other disney cartoons that could go live action.

I think my favorites are the Guillermo and Tarentino interviews.

So here's my question: Will they just put in the original cast since they're all still alive (save for young SImba and Nala of course) or completely recast it? You might could get a better Simba, but aside from that, I can't imagine you topping the original cast.
But if it is recast, here's my choices:
Simba: Ryan Gosling
Mufasa: Idris Elba (Nice reflection from Shere Khan)
Scar: Benedict Cumberbatch (The perfect choice. Imagine Be Prepared)
Nala: Jennifer Lawrence
Timon: Louis CK
Puma: Andy Serkis (what CGI movie is complete without him)
Rafiki: Chiwetel Ejiofor
Zazu: Simon Pegg
Sarabi: Lupita Nyong'o
Shenzi: Aisha Tyler
Banzai: Steve Buscemi

Watching Luke Cage, I think Mike Colter might be able to make a good Mufasa

Jungle Book was awesome.

The live action versions of The Jungle Book and Cinderella paid homage to the animated films they were based on. However, Maleficent and Pete's Dragon had little in common with the original versions. Maleficent was a steaming pile of crap. You don't take one of Disney's greatest and most evil villains and suddenly rewrite the story with her as the hero.
