Before the Heard thing I bet most people would have rolled their eyes at another Pirates. I think the trial publicity could give this a big boost.

This was the whole point.
Even if he was an abuser, the trial swung public perception enough to where the public doesn't believe he is.
Just a reminder that these big corporations don't really give a shite about being woke. It's just to avoid financial losses (and sometimes going woke itself does this).

This won't return the franchise to its former glory. Disney will hack it down to size to appeal to their activist agenda. You'll still see the good ole Captain Jack Sparrow but he'll have a non-binary POC as his sidekick.

Daily Mail is a shite news site so I'm not sure of the validity of this being that it was also reported that Margo Robbie was to be the new lead. Unless Disney changes ship, because that's his role and his alone.

haven't seen it in years but it felt like that one did the sequel mistake of "oh you guys liked the double crossings in the first one? Ok well now let's throw 50 of those in there!!"
