For me it's Charlie Brown Christmas and Great Pumpkin. The rest of them are far behind.

I was a young kid right before video cassettes became mainstream. As kids we used to see the advertisements a few weeks before for charlie brown holiday specials, Wizard of oz, frosty etc.. and make plans to make sure to watch because if you missed it that was it till next year . These days all that is lost because now you can pop the DVD in anytime or any streaming service and watch them. Aw the old Days .

You should play this intro before watching.

You just made my day with that.
Yeah, I'm simple minded.

A great memory from my and my children's childhoods.

Gracias, got the kid watching it now. At least there's one thing on tonight we can watch together before the R rated debates come on.

washpo: why the great pumpkin is peanuts greatest visual special ...
Their swift narrative certainty for “Great Pumpkin” freed Melendez (who also voiced Snoopy) and his crew — including gifted animator Bill Littlejohn — to create stunning watercolor skies and rich autumn hues that provide every scene with its own mood, apart from the characters. Melendez brilliantly painted both motion and emotion.
“It is by far the most colorful of the shows,” Mendelson says, “as Bill and his team captured the vibrancy of the fall season.”
And the camera, often so static in “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” zooms in for facial close-ups in the follow-up that provide the viewer with a poignant intimacy.

I still nostalgically like the idea of watching Charlie Brown specials, but some of the melancholia is more obvious now and Lucy pisses me off too much as an adult.

I have an old VHS tape recorded off CBS for Charlie Brown's Christmas that is that exact thing plus old 1980s commercials.

I remember the Great Pumpkin showing up in the end. So does my wife. In the movie as you see it now the Great Pumpkin never shows up, which is weird. It's such a discordant, hollow ending compared to how it ended when we were kids.

Pretty boring movie if I'm being honest. I'm sure my honesty will be downvoted but I don't care. Pretty boring movie.

For anyone interested, the new Peanuts show on the cartoon network is really good. It's new stories, plus animated versions of many classic Peanuts storylines.

I have no recollection of this.
