Taking into account his entire body of work, I say yes. Even when he's in terrible movies he is just a captivating personality, out of all the complaints and flak he gets about some of his roles, I can honestly say I've never been bored watching a Nic Cage flick.

No, not in the least. Serviceable and enjoyable in roles, yes.

It really does. I don't mind "who is great, lets look at their body work" debates on this board.. but Cage seems to come up once a week.

It's true, I've actually probably started this same thread 2 or 3 times in the past, but I've got a little buzz on and it warms my heart to see fellow Cage fans proclaim their devotion.

He is a good actor and I have always liked him. His role in Leaving Las Vegas, for example, was haunting. He has other great roles.

He has also been in a lot of terrible movies and kind of makes a mockery of his own career. But, that should not take away from the good work he has done.

I'll admit he can be a serviceable actor at times, but all-time great? Absolutely not.

without being al pacino he's happily reached the al pacino playing a caricature of his earlier acting self stage of his career.

False

And from that previous thread on Murray vs. Cage. Cage is better. Murray just has been in more critically acclaimed films. Cage covers Murray's entire Wes Anderson portfolio in Adaptation, for which he got the nomination.

Nicholson and Day-Lewis are top 10 actors of all-time. Falling short of that standard doesn't mean Cage is not an all-time great.

Nicolas Cage is what happens when Al Pacino and Sylvester Stallone have a love child.

Nicolas Cage would have done better than Brando as the Godfather.
